Simple math and logic classes is what could have easily prevented this. Given that this is a technology based error, it should be integrated into a technology class. You can easily integrate numerous concepts into math and logic and science, but the government likes to keep those "separate" so the vast majority of the population stays stupid and so that they don't realize that all these concepts are deeply intertwined.
Someone who was taught "2$ - 8$ = -6$, therefore -6$ are recorded in numerous databases in numerous computer algorithms, which your name, address, phone number and more are attached to." will teach math, financial literacy and basics of programming in one sentence. One sentence is all it would take to prevent all of this.
The educational system is a joke. I can tell you right now the people in this video have no clue about basic math and it's not even their fault. Logic at its very foundation must be taught early on.

If it was a one off thing and a few small number of people got something like $20 they would eat the cost. When the bank I used got bought out and became another bank there was a small period of time where they warned everyone to not use money in their accounts. I didn't get the message and got groceries after work. I think I did it right as they changed the bank name for everyone's info and debit cards disabled because my account never changed after getting the groceries.

The thing about this is not about teaching it it's mostly about assumption, when you buy something with your card or make a transfer you get a receipt or it's marked on your history, this means that they have the number of the account and the amount and you can see it on the same account, this clearly tells you that they can trace your purchases and transfers even if the number on the account is bugged.
The people that tried to abuse this assumed that none of the things I mentioned above existed and some even knew but thought they could get away with it as long as they could pass it as a mistake (I thought I had the money since my account number never changed) and while this could have worked no one would believe you if your purchase surpassed the amount you had by the double...
