  • This video goes over the things I did to help reduce gum swelling during the first 48 hours through the 1st 10 days.
Things to have on hand to help reduce gum swelling: ice packs (home made or purchased), ibuprofen (i.e Advil) & lots of pillows (to keep your head propped up at night) or a recliner to keep you in a semi-upright position while you're sleeping.
Best of luck. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me: ‪lilliandarling2016@yahoo.com

My husband went to affordable dentures 2 days ago and they also said only leave in the first 24 hrs only and then take them off at night. We did not listen to those instructions and have left them on since
e-surgery on Friday. He’s at the 48 hr mark with extreme swelling even with leaving them on. I can only imagine if he took them off. Thank you for the recommendations!

Oh my gosh! Yes, I’ve seen so many people take them out after 24 hours & they either can’t get them back in or they’re in so much pain. I’m obviously not a dentist but it drives me crazy when they give different directions. I promise, I didn’t have any issues after day 10 of wearing them. I would take them out for a few mins to clean them & rinse with salt water. Let me know how he’s doing after day 10. ❤️

@@lilliandarling2016 sorry for late reply. At day 20 he’s doing a whole lot better. I believe by day 10 he was eating solid food, not steaks or burgers, but a pretty decent amount of foods. He’ll need to learn to eat differently for a while until he gets adjusted. Still has a bit of a hard time talking clear with them in, but it gets better day by day. Thank you for your advice on keeping them in, it definitely did help even though at the few days after the surgery did not seem like anything would help.

I love your video. I'm 62, have upcoming appointment for extractions and immediate dentures. May I say that you look beautiful with yours. They look very natural. I've gone decades, avoiding my condition due to money and fear. Fear being a factor even today. Yes I'm 62 but I'm no where near to retirement. I drive a plant bus, I great workers every day. These guys get on the bus I'm to smile and say good morning. First thing they see is my awful teeth. I'm watching videos for what to expect. You've given great advice which I'm going to do. I have to get recovered quickly, meaning I don't want to go back to work with a swollen head. My husband is planning to stay home with me the first two days so maybe he can help me with the ice regimen. He's my hero. Thank you again for sharing your experiences, you are helping at least one person out here, ME!

Angie Sparks Hi Angie!!! Thx. You are EXACTLY who I was trying to help. Wow, great timing. Yeah, the UA-cam videos were my key to success. I'm going to be very honest & recommend your husband staying home for the 1st 4 days as those are the roughest. Please send me an email & let me know how you're doing & you can send me a pic of your new beautiful smile if you're up for it but if not, that's ok too. I know what you mean about putting off taking care of ourselves due to financial reasons as I had the same situation. Best of luck to you dear!! 😊💞

Hi Angie. Please take a look at the videos I made after this as I got my permanent dentures which look even better. I’ve had dental assistants (more than 1) on different occasions compliment me on my smile & asked if I wore braces. LOL - You will be smiling even bigger once you have pearly white teeth. It’s not going to be easy in the beginning but just keep reminding yourself that you’ll get through it & that you made the best decision. I look forward to hearing from you as you go through your smile journey. Thank you for the beautiful compliments. Hugs!!!

They have to say something one way or the other but if the dentist doesn’t have dentures then the fact is they don’t really know , it’s like doctors who say cannabis is bad when it’s helping so many and they have never had it themselves but are experts on it

I have been putting getting dentures off because I always thought “omg Im just in my 40’s thats too early, I’ll be the youngest person with dentures” but after searching so many videos...I am utterly in shock how many are younger than I am. Even saw 1 lady who was only 22. I’ll be going thru all this soon.

RIGHT!!! THEY SHOULD HAVE SAID. WHAT YOURE SAYING!!!!
3rd night I slept with them out, knowing full well they'd be more swollen but like a sheep I followed the dentists illogical and poor and inadequate instructions. I'm trying to force them back on because it'll only worsen I'm afraid. So painful. I can feel my heart beating in my gums. I should have put them right back in after cleaning them but I was happy to lie to myself at the thought of not having them in my mouth all night.
    3 days = 8 lbs lost

Hi there. Thanks. Glad I can help. The 1st week is the toughest but you’ll get through it. I’ve heard from so many people who tell me they only wore their dentures for 24-48 hours after extractions. Then, they removed them to sleep however they either had severe pain & difficulty when they tried to put them back in OR they ended up not being able to put them back in. I kept mine in for 10 days (sleeping in them too). I would remove them 2x/day to clean them & swish my mouth w/ a salt water rinse. I didn’t have any pain when I put my dentures back in b/c I only had them out for a few mins. After 10 days, I started sleeping without them & haven’t slept with them in since (it’s been 5 years now). Best of luck to you!! Let me know how you’re doing. 😁

I'm on my 3rd day of immediates and I am just now able to remove the denture without heart stopping pain. Getting it back in, well that's a different story! I had to lay on the floor because I thought I was going to pass out getting this denture over the extraction site. It does get better right??

Absolutely it’s very painful for a week or so but everyday will get better. I didn’t even wear mine for first 4 days I had so much work done it was to painful and I was to swelled. I actually had to have mine adjusted before I could even put em in yes it will get bigger I promise

Im hoping I can do this soon since me and my old personality didn't like listening to my dentist or parents "im 29" 🙄 lol but ya i have severe extreme tooth pain right now due to a bad bottom molar but talking to my mom she thinks this would be the best route and i totally agree lol as on now though sadly i have no finances to do it but i do have an affordable dentures about 30 to 40 minutes away from me. You're dentures look sooo good btw!! Just a new subscriber saying hello 💕

Hi there!!! Best of luck on your journey to having a new smile. I used Care Credit to pay for my extractions, immediate & permanent dentures. It was $5500 & I paid off the balance in 4 years b/c I paid 2x the minimum due. I plan on probably using my CC account again when I get my implants. For me, I couldn’t wait to save up the money. Let me know how it all goes. You’ll love not being in pain & having the ability to smile & laugh freely. 🥰

I am 63 and having full extractions and immediate dentures in 6 weeks. I am really scared, your videos are really helping me. I know this sounds daft but I’m really worried about how I will look and speak as I am a nurse and so have to go back to work and speak to patients. Hello to you, you look amazing. I will be having my eday in August. My question to you is i had my immediates made elsewhere and my extractions will be done at a hospital center. I have 7 teeth on the top and 7 on the bottom due to having the few at a time taken out over time. So, now I'm going for the final extractions. I will be putting my immediates in myself once I'm home. I'm a little concern with the swelling and hoping that i can get them in. I would like your opinion on how i should handle this. And yes , I will be sleeping in mines until i get my perms. Just taken mines out for cleaning.

Natalie Rogers Hi Natalie. Congrats on getting your new smile! I had my immediate dentures put in as soon as my extractions were done. I recommend you take the immediate dentures with you when you go for the last of the extractions so they can go in ASAP. Best of luck!! 😁

Mine are immediate denture and I was told 24hrs in, clean them, rinse mouth, rest an hour and put back then out at night. They were extremely uncomfortable to put back in, but soon were fine. Due to the fact I am deathly afraid to eat with them in right now, I took mine out to eat. I know I'm being foolish, but Everytime I put them back in, it rips my gums open again and bleeds. Can't call my dentist because it's closed for Thanksgiving. Tommorow I will try and figure out what happened. Until then, resting.

Hi Lilyanna. I’ve heard so many people having the same issue. Try leaving them in longer (only take them out to clean them & put them right back in). I’m not sure how far along you are. I don’t eat without my dentures in but I do remember the beginning being tough. I hope things get better for you dear.

Day 6. I wish I could leave my teeth in all the time. I hate to take them out. My mouth feels better with them in. So I’m not getting much sleep. My surgeon made me day them out on the end of the second day. I have not had much trouble getting them back in. But my mouth sores are horrible. I have a huge one right in the front under my lip. Ugh.

    • @lilliandarling2016
      @lilliandarling2016  6 років тому +1

Lisa McIntyre Oh no Lisa, I’m so sorry. See if your dentist can help with the sores. Maybe your dentures are rubbing on spots making the sores. You’re still in the roughest part but it’ll get better. I love drinking my morning coffee without my dentures in. This morning I had a bowl of Cinamon Toast Crunch (I let it get a little soft in Almond/cashew milk first) & my daughter said, “you can eat that without your teeth?” LOL - Good luck my dear. It’ll get better as the days/weeks & eventually months go by.

Trust me, you won’t be getting a good night sleep anyway but I’d say if you’re sleeping, don’t worry about it but I think you’ll find that you’ll be woken up by the pain. Good luck.
