What I'm more concerned about is that we get a Spanish dub. The Spanish trailer only said "the text of the game" would be in Spanish, so I'm not sure where that leaves the dubs. But they would need to get a new Layton voice, unfortunately.
I would throw so much money at them for this, and I already own every single one of the existing Layton games that weren't Japanese-exclusive mobile games. X-x
If the series has taught me anything, it's that there's always more to the situation than meets the eye. Earthquakes? Most likely some underground drilling going on, at least that's my theory.
@Rihcterwilker this has been the case since the first game and even then there's some fantastical stuff going on with the wacky machines and set designs.
@@CreativeWM_Personal still always being explained in the most boring way. Giant unknown monster? Just a big robot. Ghost? Just a hologram. Weird fog all around town? Just a fog machine. I'm a fan of the games, but i honestly just played for the puzzles after a while, the formula is just too obvious once you see the pattern.
I'd like the original six Professor Layton games to come to the Switch. And I'm not alone in it either. Others are saying it and the Layton vs. Ace Attorney as well.
They'd have to remaster some puzzles though. There's one in diabolical box im thinking of specifically that would be hard to rework directly for switch bc it required the ds mic... 🤔

I'd be surprised if it didn't have an English VA since every other Layton title has, but it's a little odd that they're not choosing to reveal that at this stage. The last game with that cast released about ten years ago, maybe they struggled to get the same people back?

i love the kinda older point and click style movement; i was really worried about how the gameplay was going to translate onto such a different control scheme but it looks like they’ve handled it very well 🤞🤞🤞 i’ve been playing these games for sixteen years and im so happy the series has persisted and is getting a new mainline game. hopefully we get some good merch too.
Hardest same, ever. When the original announcement came out via Direct, I screamed so loud my voice was shot for a couple days and my family yelled at me so much for breaking their ears (we watch together), but I could not help it. I never thought we'd see another game starring the professor. It has just.... yeah. I'm so excited.

I've never play any of these before, I don't think the have ever ported all the old ones onto the Switch but I would play them if they did so I can get an understanding of all the games and not jump right into one out of order.
The first three were ported to phones a while ago. It should be fairly easy to convert those for a Switch re-release. The second trilogy would need more work, but it wouldn't be any harder than porting Katrielle from 3DS to Switch, and they did that perfectly.
I had a chance to play this game for a bit. In many ways I really enjoyed it… but I will be honest I expected a bit more. I really hoped for a more freeroam gameplay when you can move Layton around the city.

@@jouflowTo be fair, Luke and Professor Layton are English characters, so it makes sense for them to voiced in English. Equally, I would argue that since the characters in a game like Famicom Detective Club are Japanese, they don't need English voice acting.
I feel like this game will be the "Mario & Luigi Brothership" of Professor Layton. It will be a game most people will like, but there will be a large amount of critics, that will try to do their best to tarnish this game reputation and some people will call the game "meh/mid" and "not a true Layton sequel" because of the negative influence.

Probably since both had their latest (MAIN) game on the 3ds, a wide gap in-between releases, and a similar but slightly different artstyle. Sucks about the Broship stuff, I have only see good things about it. That or people getting annoyed at IGN's review, but I have learnt to ignore anything a majority of "game review" websites say since they hardly actually play said games properly.

Surely not. All the games so far have a notepad you can write or draw on using the touch screen when solving the puzzles, so it would be very strange if that wasn't the case for this game too.
A reminder that Level5 has been using Generative AI for game development, some of it will be part of the final game, for all of their games from 2023 and onwards. Unless there’s proof of it otherwise, this might be the last game from Level5 that has no AI in it.
Where is this information from? Also, if that's true, makes me wonder how that affects development pipeline and the final product even if they don't keep whatever it is it would generate for them. If it's just placeholder assets i can see the reason for that.
