- When the bubble burst in Japan, the economy was plunged into chaos. Japan crumbled. With an aging population and a declining economy, we're facing the same crisis we see in Moe no Suzaku. History repeats itself.
Just watched the movie, and not gonna lie I ended up bawling my eyes out.
Also living in Japan I can derectly relate the theme to real life. The family structure, social bonds are in a nose dive. I wish the situation could be improved but the socio-political situation is involved to the point that it's near impossible. The youth of Japan is also going through a disassociation phase where they are distancing from older generation which doesn't help anyone.
I know. It's such a wonderful movie!!

Beautiful words about one of the most beautiful films of this director. You must watch her other film (Mogari no mori). he also talks about the relationship between the past generation and the modern one.
