    Very interesting, particularly your winding interleaving and foil/flux band application. I also like the bobbin at the rear, (farthest away from winder's face!) instead of de-reeling from back. I had to pay attention when your 'traverse' hand wasn't apparent...I was amazed at your 'automatic' layering. Nice job.

      Thanks! I guess it's as unconventional as it gets, I just did it the way I feel comfortable, but the results are very good and pretty consistent despite the "semi scatter winding technique":)

    Hello where do you buy the big copper role wire and what is the thickness and the length?
    Thanks in advance Gino

      Hi! I buy the wire locally here in Budapest, Hungary, but I'm sure you can find it locally anywhere in the world, just check the companies that sell parts for electric motors, they usually sell the double coated wire rated for 200 degrees C.

    Howdy. Greetings from Finland. About getting laminations and bobbins.
    Search eBay for "line transformer" or "audio line transformer". One will have several matches:
    I used a match to the vendor "Parts Express". They have 100 W and 70 V items on stock. The price was abot 30 dollars a piece. I ordered two items. The laminations are audio grade steel.
    I got them yesterday (26.03.2021). I intend to rewind them for my DIY KT88 PP PA.
    I express my gratitude to Parts Express and eBay.
    Regards.

    Good video, although would do with some explanations. I was making a push-pull transformer for my push-pull converter. The output is 120V as expected from a 20V primary. However, when I put a load, the output drops from the 120V to about 11V or 9V. Do you have an idea of what might be the cause

    • @Delatsch
      @Delatsch 5 років тому

      Thanks! Yeah, this one was done without much explanations. You can check my other transformer videos and I also have tutorials available for sale on my website:
      www.delatsch.com/shop/
      There will be an option with the in-depth video tutorial as well very soon!
      I must admit I have no experience with push-pull converters, but if you calculated the transformer correctly you should have proper number of turns for 20V primary and then have the number of secondary turns accordingly. Did you wind the transformer yourself or you are using off the shelf transformer?

    Please call output Transformer winding formula

    • @Delatsch
      @Delatsch 5 років тому

      Hi Pronoy! Calculating and winding an output transformer requires a bit more than a simple formula, but I've made a really simple tutorial and a automated spreadsheet for calculating output transformers (both PP and SE) and it's available on my website for sale as a download:
      www.delatsch.com/shop/
      If you would like to find a free option there are several books on the subject that you can download for free, like Wolpert's Audio Transformer Design book. It is more complicated and requires you to manually calculate several aspects of the design. The good thing about the spreadsheet I've developed is that it is extremely straightforward and simple and anyone can use it easily. The price is there more as a support for me, so I can more easily continue to develop similar automatic calculators and make better videos and new projects.

    • @Delatsch

      Hi! Thanks! Well, the problem is I don't know any place online that sells it in small quantities, so usually there are are minimum orders which are palettes and that's way to expensive. I found the laminations locally in Serbia but there is no way to order it online unfortunately.

    The copper wire must cost a fortune!

    • @Delatsch
      @Delatsch 5 років тому

      It is very pricey, but if you make a lot of transformers it's ok. In case you wanna wind only two or three transformers it doesn't really make sense.

    I... don't understand... first you counted 1400 winds, then you've changed de wire gauge, and I've counted 100 and... something (its not that important), but... then you've wound another 1400 !!?? Thats another primary? I am a beginner in constructing transformers for tube amplifiers, but I want to learn! And so far, thanks to you, I've got a few things... but not this one! Thank you!

    • @Delatsch
      @Delatsch 7 місяців тому +1

      In a push-pull amplifier you have two plates or anodes. So, one half of the primary is 1400 for one tube and another 1400 for the other tube, and they are connected together to make a centre tap which goes to B+.

    • @jerichotm2122
      @jerichotm2122 7 місяців тому

      @@Delatsch Thank you! It makes sense, of course... but why you put in between another winding? What is that for? That's, actually, my question... why didn't you wound the 2 x 1400, one over another, and the smaller one over both of them? Why you put the smaller one in between?
      Thanks again!

    • @Delatsch
      @Delatsch 7 місяців тому +1

      Oh I see what you mean. The interleave or sandwich is used to reduce leakage inductance and extend the range of higher frequencies in a a transformer. For guitar amps it is not as critical but in hifi output transformers there are usually two-three and more interleaves of primary and secondary.@@jerichotm2122
