As always, please leave your suggestions down below! I might skip doing a faction review next week so I can dedicate more recording/editing time to the playthroughs we are currently in so I can finish them up soon. Time stamps are down below to help you navigate the vid!
Part 1: Campaign Overview - 3:12
Part 2: Military Overview - 16:19
Part 3: Verdict - 51:50
Could you do Rome Next? Been Curious as to what it's roster and new features it has in the mod
@@luke2143 As much as I'd love to do Rome, they will be the last faction I do I reckon mate. Save them up for a grand finale.
Epirus will be next but your welcome to any other suggestions :)
@@Immersaholic Not a bad idea, no objections here mate.
@@luke2143 Cheers for watching!
This has the best well rounded military of any faction. Makes me want to play.
Its definitely up there with being one of the best. Although I'd argue Media is similar and more powerful in terms of roster to Armenia. But those Armenian Legionnaires are badass!
Awesome guides! Keep up with them, I'm loving the series.
Thanks mate! I'm enjoying making these, hopefully as I develop my own knowledge I can make some smaller and more specific guides for people new to DeI or Rome 2. It seems like the mod is always drawing in new people which shows just how good it is.
Fantastic job on this review!
A great way to experience this fantastic roster with a challenge is to play them in the Imperator Augustus campaign instead of the Grand Campaign. Instead of a strong starting position with plenty of economic potential and vulnerable enemies all around; you are wedged between the Parthian and Roman factions and you must carefully play your diplomacy and economy to gain independence and forge an empire of your own.
Wow what a hectic start that would be! Thanks so much for watching and the kind words! :)
Just wanted to add (been playing another Hayk campaign since watching this video); the Kentroakan Spearmen (veteran spearmen) now has disciplined formation which practically speaking, fixed their previous weakness.
Even though their armour is only 28, they actually beat Armenian Legionairies (both sword and shield variants) in melee and are equal to Roman Imperial Legionaries. Who wins that match up depends mostly on fatigue than actual stats (both are Good stamina).
Because they are spearmen with Expert Charge Defence, they aren't weak to the cavalry armies of the east and the only major thing you need to worry about is taking prolonged range damage.
Armenia somewhat lacks good skirmishers but a combination of their Armoured Cav Archers + Field Artillery does the job against the Parthians and Scythians/Sarmatians.
80% through wathing. This is GREAT overview. Most appreciated
Thank you very kindly! Hopefully the next 20% is also to your liking :D
A faction overview for Atropatene would be cool since they got a massive overhaul in version 1.2.6! :)
Thanks for the suggestion mate! They also have the best archers and some other great units so I'd love to talk about them.
Hope you enjoy this series!
I immediatly put my entire economy behind a 10 stack (and later 20 stack) of armored horse archers. Throw in every general perk and army tradition for ammunition/arrow range increase and upkeep reduction. An early game unit with 47 armor, 49 morale with tons of ammo, can charge cycle, is faster than infantry, and can fight in melee after routing half the enemy army with arrows...disgustingly superior unit to anything else and completely shrugs off incoming arrow fire. You don't need much replenishment if you only lose 40 units in a major battle.
Great review! Would love one on Pergamon, just finished my first DEI campaign as Rome and looking for a hellenic experience next.
Thanks mate! I'll definitely have to check Pergamon out soon! Although in the meantime I highly recommend you check out Sparta for a Hellenic run. My current playthrough on the channel has easily been one of my favorites, they are definitely quite hard with their limited pop though.
I've also done faction overview videos for Macedon and the Seleucids, they may be more to your taste :)
Maybe syracuse they just got some juicy changes that makes them really unique amongst the greeks! Great video as always.
I still am yet to upgrade to the latest patch properly due to my current Spartan playthrough but when I do Syracuse will definitely be at the top of my list!
Great overview! Armenia is my favourite faction in DEI and your overview was really helpful.
Has this faction been re-skinned since your video? The Nakharar Thorakitai don't look anywhere near as cool in the version I have. I found a mod which makes them nearly there but without the awesome plumed helmets. Thanks again! :)
Thanks very much! 🤓
Yes Armenia has had some units reskinned since, I’ll be covering Armenia again soon as the latest patch of DeI have updated all of the factions
They have been a little bit reworked, as their kit was not entirely historically accurate. So they were a little bit downgraded in their drip, but are nowmore realistic.
Bummer, but hey. Its not a fantasy game 😅
I actually found the early game with Armenia difficult since you are basically or on the hellenic side, or on the persian side. So you get dragged down in a lot of wars. And all the factions around you have way better levy units or starter units (hoplites, missile troops etc) only your early cav is decent.
It's been a LONG time since I checked out Armenia, their diplomacy has changed since I checked them out. Maybe we need to redo them?
ARMENIA ARMEN ARiMEN🦁 🇦🇲🥷🏴☠️🦅
The Iberians please!
Thanks for the DEI content!
Am I missing something with the supply system? Is there like a map overlay that simplifies it or something? It feels like I have to build a depot at every capital to keep attrition at bay. Otherwise I'm doing some sort of traveling salesman problem for what counts as 3 regions away.
Thanks for the suggestion!
The supply system is a bit awkward since you have to go out of the way to check a few different ui elements to figure it out.
I might try to do a video at some point to explain.
You should tell us which reform and population each unit use, I think they are very important.
Thank you for the suggestion mate. I usually only talk about reforms when they are specialized for a faction such as the Getae having to complete certain requirements. But even then, their reforms are changing in the new update. Making what I already said about their reform almost redundant.
Basically my thinking is to do a video specific to cover all reforms for each cultural group in a different video in the future. These videos are already extremely long and I'm not trying to extend them.
The same also goes for population, I mention it where its important (For example I talk about factions like the Getae who rely heavily on a certain population). But again I'm not trying to extend these videos too much.
I won't add these 2 discussions to faction overview videos but I may try to do more specialized videos to discuss them in the future. I hope that satisfies you mate! Thank you for watching :)
Armenia has basic Greek reforms
Finally armenia
56:40 WTF xDDDD
Armenia is the only kingdom where I can play my Arslan Senki fantasy lol
Armenia is awesome :D
alwayz bring the best armored pen you got for battle
AP all day mate!
6 months to late but it be cool if you played a playthrough in this area like hayk or even better kartli
Never too late mate :)
I'd probably do a Hayk campaign at some point, I love their roster and they are in a interesting position.
I had good relations with selecuids from the very beginning. It took 34 turns for me to take a settlement(sinope) because literally everyone wanted to be my trade partner and sign a NAP. Saw Atro attacked Seleucid before they had the revolt and everyone hated them so I quickly came in and destroyed one of their armies and liberated a city. Wanted to get my food established in the north so I only got involved to keep the selecuids and their vassals happy. Turned back north, took nikomedia and Asia which meant I had a great military, wealth and food province.
Sounds like you made a good choice mate! You enjoying the campaign so far?
I usually also try to use NAPs to keep one side of my country safe while moving the opposite direction.
Something I find incredibly annoying about dei is that literally every unit throws javelins. It really bothers me to be honest. I don't even care if it's historically accurate or not, I don't want every single army I face throwing javelins all the damn time.
Ikr. I can't do cavalry charges straight into infantry without losing a quarter or more of the unit. The AI infantry somehow standing still threw a bunch of javelins while standing into a charging cavalry then throw more immediately after they get back up as cavalry runs away.
The barbarians are the worst with this, the infantry has to be distracted first if you want to keep a still functioning cavalry unit.
