- The second official installment of our new favorite series is finally here! This is sharing your Ho(rror) Stories 2.0! Per usual, you guys sent some absolute bangers in and for whatever reason, poop was a reoccurring theme. Not sure where in the world that came from...couldn't be one of our main character traits or anything.

My family is an interrupting family but my sister was really bad with it to the point where my brother developed a severe stutter because he’d try so hard to get his words out before she’d interrupt that his speech got messed up but he got over it and we all finish sentences for my mom because she needs words help a lot because she thinks really hard about her word choice and it slows her down, love the pod!!

Thank you for introducing me to the idea cooperative interrupting! I've dealt with alot of shame around me interrupting people ans worked really hard to stop but I love when people talk like I do and we can both get really into the conversation.

First I wanted to say I love you guys! Second, I love the interaction between the two of you. The way you communicate is how I wish I could communicate. I grew up in an environment where what I said or how I felt was disregarded or ignored so I stopped expressing or talking about anything but the most superficial and mundane topics. Now, expressing my feelings or opinions makes me anxious and panicky. I would love to be able to communicate with the confidence the two of you have.

for the cooperative communication styles- what about the concept of being both a cooperative communicator but ALSO being the one getting frustrated that keeps getting interrupted, and also getting anxious when I am both interrupted / someone is talking and I feel anxious about interrupting but if I don’t get the thought out I’ll explode because 1. for some reason it needs to be added in my head and 2. I KNOW that I’ll forget if we move on

As a 42 yr old woman i have realized thru your podcast that all of the things that absolutely drive my husband and coworkers and everyone in my rehlm insane is because i MUST have ADD/ ADHD!!! I feel like i could come pull up a chair and we could interrupt each other talking for hours upon hours!!! My husband of 20yrs i'm positive HATES me for interrupting him always!! i tell him that i literally feel like i am going to explode if i don't say it immediatly or forget it ! He says i always turn every conversation into me and i'm really just spurred by something he says that i can relate to and it just comes out! I'ts getting worse and worse as the yrs go by and i'm terrified of medicine! I absolutely LOVE listening to your podcast though! It makes me feel normal!!

I'm a cooperative interrupter! And I just had to transcribe an interview with my mom for a school project, so literally the person talking was labeled 'together' sometimes.

Ooooh I’m from New York and the only people I feel fully comfortable having conversations with are those who interrupt me and aren’t offended if I do the same to them. My friends and I will raise hands or put up a finger to signify we have something to say. If the speaker doesn’t want to be interrupted and wants to finish their thought, just respond back with a simple “hold on,” “one sec,” “please hold.” I also have a difficult time staying with the conversation without interruptions, it moves too slowly to hold my attention and I’ll accidentally spend too much time trying not to forget what I want to say in response.
One thing that is interesting to me regarding interrupting is that all these "white men with a microphone" podcasts talk over each other, interrupt each other, or just straight up not stop talking when others are trying to be heard, and no one bats an eye.
But God forbid women do it. That's like the number one complaint I see on woman-led podcasts.

My family and my close friends always interrupt each other and we get so much more into the conversation that way. I do feel bad though sometimes because some people get offended when I do, when I am just trying to show my interest and participate in the conversation

I will say I don't think cheaters are people who are lying about wanting to be poly (some might be) I offered to be poly with my last partner, telling them I understand you can love more than one person at a time and to just communicate with me if they ever wanted to be poly. Well, he had a fiancé the whole time he was dating me (Dont even know to this day how that was possible because he was with me everyday)- and was seeing other girls between me and his fiancé. I think in his case cheating was because he didnt want to "share" me and kind of a have his cake and eat it too situation. More about control over the women he was seeing and less about actually loving us.

I am constantly interrupting my boyfriend and this honestly sounds like the reason why. I’m trying to help him and the conversation. He doesn’t always appreciate it though
I find it funny how I am both? Depends who I am talking to. My Dad's side you can't interrupt as it's seen as rude and he was brought up more strict. My Mum's side is Polish and if you don't interrupt or talk over people then you don't get a word in. Sometimes I forget to switch though when I am talking to people.

Been a silent follower for a while thank you for everything you do and just being you. I've learned so much while listening to y'all's podcast and it helped me through so many life changes.
Also I come from a ADHD family that interrupts each other all the time, however I also have auditory issues so if someone is speaking over someone I literally can't hear anything. 🥲 It's just gibberish until only 1 person is speaking.
