We only cruise Disney and when I go with family I pack every med possible just in case. When I cruise without my kids I don’t bring AS MUCH but still you don’t want to be caught without something if you need it!
My adult daughter got sick as a passenger. She confined to our room for 24 hours. They brought her and me food. They offered videos to watch and gave a stuffed animal.
I am a nationally registered and retired paramedic as well as emt instructor. Cruise medical has issues, medical evacuation flights are done way too often at a large cost in fuel expense to the coast guard. CVA, cardiac, TBI, major lacerations caused by drunk passengers are a problem. Airlifted is common. They often don’t use certified ER doctors who understand very emergent conditions. I posted to an admiral and he thought a surcharge for all ships in the Caribbean would be a good idea and help encourage better facilities
The one cruise I went on, it felt like there was no air in our room. The second night I was laying in bed literally gasping, so I went up to the front desk. We were young, maybe 18,19, naive, we just didn’t know stuff 🤪. But the whole time our air levels I guess, I’m sure you know what it is, I can’t really remember but I guess just like a small lever you pull up and down, was way down. So luckily we could breathe again, but it was just so bad. And there was no UA-cam then, I didn’t research every little thing about it before we went, I didn’t think about the lack of oxygen, and we were in a good room, only like 1 floor down. Anyways, yeah. Even with the air okay though I just couldn’t imagine living in that recycled air!
Thats so crazy! We didn't have any lever like that (I'm sure it was controlled for us) But it def gets claustrophobic in that recycled air all day long!
First time listener on your channel. I'm just amazed at the 70+ hours you had shared and the corn story you had shared is hulious!!😂 i thought my job was bad,I work in a hospital where I work 16 hours a day as a dietiation aid. I defiantly have to give you abd the other ladies on the ship kuddles for what they are doing and yourself for what you did do back then. Im glad to hear you are out of that and to hear how much happier you feel about the decision you made for yourself. That is awesome! Keep living your life because life is too short. Looking forward to hearing more stories. ❤ New subscriber!
I watch a lot of pedicure videos, lol, and you have to take care of your feet to prevent callousing by exfoliation, lotion, buffing, like one of those metal pedicure tools.
I applied at Disneyland one time and got hired. They ask if you take any meds. I told them I took Paxil and they would not let me work until i went to a doctor and was cleared that I was totally ok mentally to work for Disney.
It's interesting this older video got suggested to me during this time of Corona COVID-19 going around. You we're very informative. One thing you didn't mention was the cost of any for the medical services to employees. Also if you got signed off while on the ship did you still get paid?? Thanks for the great videos!
Hey Gianna! first thing that's an incredible video and helps so much to know what it is like and also hope you enjoyed your break you deserved it!! But I just really wanna ask you one thing. Will you ever do a video with Michelle again??
Thank you so much for this kindness! I will not ever do a video with her again as we didn't stay in touch! I will however talk about that in my next video!
What about guests? I've been wondering about that bcuz I'd love to go on a cruise but I'm often sick. I have a brain tumor and other less minor health problems. I'd ask my neurologist before I'd go but what if something happens while I'm out there? Is there a hospital area for guests and if so how does that work? Thanks for any info you can give me:). Congrats on a year of weekly uploads❤. I've certainly enjoyed it😎
Christina Incognito do not go on a cruise if you have any medical issues. If anything happens they have medical at an EXORBITANT cost and you’ll have to be airlifted off the boat worst case scenario. Best case scenario in getting sick on a ship is being quarantined to your room and then not getting to enjoy the vacation you spent so much money on. Can’t recommend all inclusive resorts on land enough!
What about sea sickness while you were working...if it just happens so quick and you have run to the bathroom to throw up...what would they do to you would you get in trouble?
Okay i died laughing at “the corn” descriptions! 😂 horrible and funny at the same time! The whole idea of “the injection” gave me the willies. No thanks. I’m good. What?! I’m bleeding out my eyes and I need The Injection? No no this isn’t blood. These are designer tears of magical joy. 😬 Nope. No injection of unnamed origin needed! Followed by a mad dash to the nearest lifeboat and off I go! 😳 YIKES. Great installment as always! PS-your leap over the fence is EVERYTHING. No words. Just love. More please!!!!! 😍
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! lol we were just being goofy but I thought my channel deserved a fun bonus video! As always, thank you so much for watching, commenting and supporting!!!!
Do you have any idea about prescription meds? I want to become a hairdresser on a cruise ship and take prescriptions, only problem is I don't know how that would work out.
@@TeenG Thanks for the answer! I was nervous about that but even hearing that they will ask about it make me feel better. I'm hoping that I qualify for working on a cruise ship despite the fact I take meds.
What was the medical when you got on the ship? Like what tests do they do? Also, would there be time to get off the ship during breaks?Im going to be in nursery, did you have any friends from there? I love your videos, so informative thank you and you’re preparing me loads for when I start soon ... 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Prior to working on the ship I had to go to a doctors appointment and get a full blood panel don! I also had to do a hearing test and a sight test. Yes! If you are in port and have a few hour break you can get off of the ship! Im so excited for you! If you have any questions just let me know!
😂😂😂 the injection , so true! I had the flu and I was signed off for 72 hours and had to stay isolated not in my room but in medical. The worst 3 days of my life 😂😂😂 bored out of my mind. && yes the corn pads suckkk! I started wearing gel pads with all my shoes 👠 also got my wisdom teeth removed in Mexico ! What an experience lol, but it was free ! Love all your videos 💚 you’re awesome for this! Currently getting ready for my 3rd contract !
It is super nice that it was free! I am so excited for you that is so amazing! Thank you so, so much for watching and supporting! My hat goes off to you!
I'm watching your every single video about DCL. Thank you so much! I want to try so listen to you is very helpful. Any way I can't find info in the internet, how long is the contract? I've heard it vary 2-6 months. Is it true?
I was on a Disney cruise once as a kid, saw a waitress faint straight on the floor during her shift, and then get up and keep working.
I can imagine!

Absolutely! So smart. They have the basics in medical but you never want to be caught off guard.

This happened to my mom on one cruise as well !

Yes absolutely!
This is something I always wondered about. I would definitely stay away from the injection😬 lol.
No injection for me! Lol!
Thanks for sharing! Hope u enjoyed ur break!!! 👍
Thank you so much for watching and supporting!
I feel like I went on the same cruise you work in
Disney Dream
Port Canaveral
Yes!
What do they do about mental health? Do they allow people with a history of mental illness to even work for DCL? How do you get perceptions?
I honestly have no idea about the answer to any of those questions! I am so sorry!
I applied at Disneyland one time and got hired. They ask if you take any meds. I told them I took Paxil and they would not let me work until i went to a doctor and was cleared that I was totally ok mentally to work for Disney.

Medical services are free to crew members! If you were medically debarked you were paid through your contract end! Thank you so much for watching!
I'm curious to find out what is in the injection lol
Im sure its just like steroids but honestly, who knows!

@@daniellenardone8118 Awesome thanks for that info! I think that would be best❤
Usually you are airlifted or dropped off at an island if we are close. We have a small dr. office but they can do very little!
What about sea sickness while you were working...if it just happens so quick and you have run to the bathroom to throw up...what would they do to you would you get in trouble?
You wouldn't get in trouble but they have you take meds before rough seas and they try to minimize that happening.

I am really not sure but I bet they can get you meds at medical. They would ask you about this during your interview or you could ask them!
@@TeenG Thanks for the answer! I was nervous about that but even hearing that they will ask about it make me feel better. I'm hoping that I qualify for working on a cruise ship despite the fact I take meds.
omg is your friend with the throat cancer ok? was it actually throat cancer? yikes how scary
He was okay! He got medical help in portugal and now he is back on the ships!
Tawny Horton throat cancer requires major cancer center

Are you able to smoke if you are a smoker. I'm not applying I'm just curious
You are yes! There is a crew bar in the aft of the ship with a big balcony thing that you can smoke on!
😂😂😂 the injection , so true!

I was wondering if many people got seasickness? Is it common?
Not super common for workers because we know how to deal with it!
Teen G how do you deal with it? What are the tricks? I’ve never considered a cruise because I’d be worried about sea sickness.
I'm watching your every single video about DCL. Thank you so much! I want to try so listen to you is very helpful. Any way I can't find info in the internet, how long is the contract? I've heard it vary 2-6 months. Is it true?
Im so happy that you like them! Thank you so much for supporting! It can vary from 2-8 months, anything under 4 being SUPER rare.
I live in Nassau Bahamas🇧🇸
Awesome!
When I did the Disney Dream Cruise for 5 days. A lady went down to see medical and was charged over $200 for aloe Vera for her sunburn crazy
Wow that's crazy! Luckily I never need to pay for anything in medical!
hi
