His redemption arc came full circle when he, along with his wife, found himself on the other end of a gun in a Commonwealth labour camp - facing the very tyrant he once was. Mirroring the situation he had Glenn and Maggie in. In that moment, he finally got it - after all these years he finally faced himself and saw his soul. It was beautiful.
Negan didn't order the massacre of the Oceanside's men. That was a choice made by Simon. Also took place before he even took control of the Factory/Sanctuary
Negan’s a pretty evil guy. Killing Glenn and Abraham was fair game but the manner in which it was done wasn’t. What he did was technically torture as they both died slowly and brutally in front of their friends. He was sadistic as hell in that lineup and truly didn’t give a f about anyone there. He’s been involved in hundreds of deaths that were under his orders. Slave wives, which is an inexcusable crime despite the lies ppl will tell to justify it. Not full psycho but still pretty evil. He does good deeds in the end. He seems remorseful. The whole “I never kill kids” thing is a lie tho. He was swinging his bat to aim for Carl’s head whom, despite the actor, is canonically like 15yrs old or less. They never mention the wives thing at all post s7 and if they addressed that instead of pretending it didn’t happen then it would’ve added to his redemption arc. He’s a solid character but he does have some faults.
Yeah I feel like AMC was stuck with most of the main cast wanting to leave. So they were backed into a corner to redeem Negan to add him to the survivors team.
@ I hear that but they still could’ve done it better. The show act as if his worst crime was the lineup and all the other things were Simon’s doings. The lineup was the least of his wrongdoings and I don’t even care about that anymore. That was probably the only justifiable thing he ever did while he ran the Saviours. His accolades are either pushed onto Simon (acting like he wasn’t the man ordering ppl around like slaves) or it’s completely ignored. A scene or two of him apologising to all the women he coerced would’ve been fine but not just disregarding it completely. Him saying that he wishes he changed his mind about killing the men of Oceanside and he’ll never forgive himself or some shit like that would’ve worked.
Never forget what rick did to them thougj. Killed them in Bed and stole their children. Negan wasn't a great guy, but negan was justified to kill them all. Negan didn't start with rick, rick popped on him over over the old hilltop leadship.
Rick started that war Rick’s crew killed Negan’s men, if Rick hadn’t attacked Negan, Glenn and Abraham would still be alive, also Rick’s crew started the war with the governor. The governor was trying to find a cure, and Michonne killed his daughter in front of him and stabbed him causing him to lose his eye
Good video. Aside from what was mentioned, other atrocities committed by Negan included burning people's faces with an iron, throwing that doctor in the fire, taking all the beds from Alexandria just to burn them in the road, and having more people from an enslaved community killed if an offering was low. Which included the factory workers at the sanctuary like that guy Dwight witnessed getting beaten to death who had a wife, son and newborn on the way. Negan also didn't allow any of the factory workers to take chances on their own like when Negan sent Dwight after Gordon who was tired of Negan's rule and preferred death instead. The factory workers despised Negan and the savior army and were happy when Rick won like when that one worker told Rick that he hoped Negan was suffering. Negan's imprisonment and having all of his freedom taken away was the perfect justice just as he did that to so many other people.
I would say that Negan's story demonstrates quite well that as long as we are breathing, we can always become better people, if that is what we choose. It doesn't erase the sins of our pasts, nor the consequences of them, but it does show who we are is ultimately a choice. We are ultimately not a result of our circumstances or past traumas, but of our choices.
@Theo Hunt Here is the way I always thought of it: Rick was bad so that he could protect his people. Negan was bad so that he could control his people. Without Negan, people like the Croat and Simon would have taken control and be a heck of a lot more evil than Negan ever was.
I do apologise for the “well akchulllley” comment, but Negan didn’t order the Oceanside massacre. There’s an episode where Negan talks to Simon about how when he (Negan) arrived at The Sanctuary, he’d heard tales of a man (Simon) who’d killed all the men at a community and just left the women.

I understand all about his character, until when it comes to having many women, and it's just about many (leaders having many women all the time in any history), he's taken all the beautiful ones, and some of them if not all had a love one before he took them for himself. that's not a flaw, that's a direct conflict of establishing a well written character.
I 100% disagree with the whole notion that if we were to look at Negan's story and not Rick's then the hero and villain roles would be reversed. Rick Grimes didn't enslave communities, exploit women, associate himself with heinous people, kill one or two people from each group to say who's boss, make his group address themselves as Rick, or even feel the need to redeem HIMSELF after realizing that they were a bad person. i could be wrong as i havent really watched the show in a while. i got to season nine about 11 months ago, i havent made it to season ten. im sure that says something. but i wanted to point out that if i remember correctly, simon killed the men of oceanside on his own accord. not by negans word. i could be wrong and i will take accountability for that.
He’s not necessarily good. Just a little reformed. Him being locked up made him realize his actions and past was drive him nuts. We see his back story he was gym teacher cheating on his wife. And than the apocalypse hits. And he does better until an event drives him nuts which made him the way he was.
After killing alpha Daryl even gained respect for him by giving him a head nod. So he’s more of an anti hero
Yh, but there's only a few people who aren't bad people in that show.
TV Negan a weird forced Anti hero thing the show did but comics he's a bad dude who had a tiny soft spot
It’s called PE in America too
My bad I wasn’t sure hahaha
No he still a bad person in my eyes 👀
Lawful evil to the page
I thought Simon went rogue and took out the men
And does he punish Simon?
@@molasorrosalom4846he was also aware that the people that daryl killed with the rocket launcher were d**k heads but maintained them being sent out for collections.
Negan is very insightful even with all his betrayals that happened he knew what the motor cycle group were doing and decided to not stop them.
Yes. Dont care what his haters say.
No. Don't care what his simps say.
@luciusdebeers6176 yes don't care what some nobody waste of society with no one to love him thinks
@cStatE95 says the guy who gets his panties in a twist this hard when someone else doesn't like his favourite fictional character. I'm sure you are very well adjusted and have lots of friends. LMAO
@luciusdebeers6176 and yet you're still trying to make a case against 5he guy who got his panties in a twist go get pay to get laid. 🤣 bottom waste to society
Hey 👋
Hi Bob
No
Glad we came to the same conclusion
@ idk if youre being sarcastic but im baffled at the people giving him redemption - i know TWD/FTWD runs the theme of “everyone can come back” but thats the difference between fiction and reality. Maggie should have killed him 10x over
@ no I totally agree with you in my opinion Negan should have been killed at the end of season 8!
@ yeah it felt forced and unrealistic (ironic i know) i get its a great character and actor but so was the Governor and Negan did far worse to far more people
ill win
No.Period
This is what women are for.
I like Negan well i like Jeffrey so im a little bias 😂. But I will admit the man was crazy af and did some horrible things. I think i wouldve just unalived him tbh
Whattup theo? Earliest I've been
Hey man, I accidentally set the video to upload at 6:30am rather than PM so that’s why no one’s here yet hahahah 😭😭😭😭
