    This video discuss the use of smoke in beekeeping and the potential risks associated with traditional smoke sources. It introduces an alternative device developed by Apisolis, which produces non-toxic smoke with biological properties. The device is easy to use and does not leave any residue on beeswax. Gas chromatography tests have shown that the smoke produced by the device does not contain dangerous compounds found in regular wood smoke. The video concludes by highlighting the potential for future developments and inviting viewers to learn more about the device on the Apisolis website.

    Hello, Humberto! This is a very interesting topic, and I'm so glad you covered it. The time frames are informative and somewhat specific. During my course studies, one of the instructors stated that after smoking a hive, the impact on production "lasted up to 24 hours". This is a very important area for further research. Do you know if this unit/system will be at the NAHBE? I'm not a fan of having to purchase refills, but remain interested in knowing more. Happy 2024!

    I have an Apisolis It works well and produces plenty of smoke. My main reason to purchase one was I would not start a fire living on 20 acres in Australia. I mostly smoke myself to cover my smell.

    This is an interesting video. I love the idea of the new style smoker and the reasons behind using it vs the traditional smoker. The price however is pretty high. That is the only downside I see in it. I am starting a couple hives this Spring for the first time and will look into it. Thank you so much for this video, super helpful 😊🐝🌞🌻

    Love your videos Humberto. In the case of the Apisolis smoker was going to buy one ~ however after reading reviews on lack of reliability decided againt it.
    Many users it seems use these for a season or less with minimal use only to find warranty runs out and they have an expensive piece of equipment which is not fit for purpose.
    These items need to be sold with a 5 year warranty. If they did would purchase one. Selling for at least £175 at the beginning of 2024 it's a big investment to be lumbered with should it happen to mal function after a few months use and to find it ceases to work the following season when out of guarantee!
    It's a shame really because a lot of research would have gone into this product. Potential purchasers need to be aware these units need to be avoided until the manufacturer has enough confidence to offer a long warranty or sell insurance to give buyers confidence in the product.

    Very good and interesting. I think the last thought of what if is the nature of future solutions. Vapor is already used in Verro Mite treatments. Hope one is discovered to repel hive beetles. Wondering which element in general smoke does the work. If that could be identified and refined than a vapor to subdue the bees can be enhansed and possibly entise more folks to bee keep. Dosnt carbon dioxide put them safly to sleep when correctly applied. Lets hooe there is advanced study on this line. It would be bennificial to the bee the enviroment and the bee keeper. Great vedio. Thanks

    I use pieces of dried Fomes fomentarius, which has healing properties and is useful for the human body. I smoke very rarely, a few times a year. I also add a little bit of propolis to the smoker. My bees live in straw, additionally insulated and roofed beehives. I started two years ago and I am looking for a way to maintain them without treatment. I’ll let you know the result. Best to you, Davor

    Interesting potential as a delivery mechanism but quite frankly the standard bee smoker will still be the standard a century from now.
    And playing up the scare... health risks is BS marketing hype. Yes, we know breathing smoke is bad. I think we've figured that out after millenia of using fire, duh, but after a millenia or so we've not only come to depend on it weve learned to mitigate the risks to an acceptable degree.
    Please reconsider just how you market, I mean present your information. Like the channel and the latest greatest info you provide, but wait there's more, without the added infomercial.

  • @hevchip741

    That sounds interesting. I always thought bees were less likely to sting because they found it hard to bend their bodies after engorging on the honey.

    It still makes me laugh when I heard beekeepers say that smoke calms the bees!!! Do you see what they do when you smoke them? They run like hell. It DOES NOT calm them down it simply is a diversion tactic.

    • @Zuconja
      @Zuconja 6 місяців тому +4

      Yes, I divert them to be calm, because for me a non stinging bee is a calm bee.

    • @jbielic4067
      @jbielic4067 6 місяців тому

      Absolutely, it disorients them. If you use too much smoke you sometimes end up with the opposite effect and they become pissy with you.

    Butt's Bees gave this product a good review. It seemed to work well for her on non-aggressive hives; however, the more aggressive hives didn't seem to respond to the electric smoker, and she had to resort to the traditional smoker for the aggressive hives. My hives are located in a large acreage of switchgrass where I'm forced to exercise great caution when using the traditional smoker, but I'd easily purchase and use this electric smoker once they lower the cost by $75 - $100 and wrap the smoker in some type of casing to make it more durable and stable. Tell Apisolis to send me a tester and I'll evaluate it for them.

    Smoking IS FULLY understood.
    It clogs their little 'noses' so they are not able to communicate pheromones to each other when one is inside the hive.

    The vapor coming from the device in the video was so thin and weak that actual agresssive bees won’t even notice. Good luck. Not to mention what plant extracts are they using.? I’m putting money on nicotine. Putting tobacco in the smoker definitely calms the bees better than any other smoker fuel,.

    • @apisolis
