    6:45 I have an Akai Mpk3 Mini, Did you have to assign the pads or should I get a Maschine Mk3? I ask because I am having serious problems customizing the pads with Battery’s layout. I switch to the 4x4 cell and it does absolutely nothing to customization. I use FL Studio and Pro Tools.

    THANK YOU FOR THIS! I just ordered a Maschine MK3 after using MK1 for so many years and your Battery group download is going to make things so much more enjoyable for me.

    By far one of the most underestimated video on Maschine on YT. Thank you very much for this, very helpful!! One little tip - instead of creating all the remaning sounds and setting MIDI one by one, you can just create 2nd sound, set the midi out and channel 1 an djust duplicate it all across. Root note still needs setting obviously..

    this process seems really inconvenient since battery comes with like 1000 drum kits, this will take forever to do this on every battery kit I want to use. however this is something I didn't know before so I'm always happy to learn something new!

    • @aftalyfe
      @aftalyfe  3 роки тому +5

      You actually need to do this for only one kit since they are mostly sorted out on the same keys. All you have to do then is save the maschine group with the routing and just load whatever kit you want on the sound 1.

    Anyone know if this can be used for other drum VSTs like Superior Drummer or Addictive Drums, or is this only for Battery? I ordered a Mikro Mk3 yesterday only to discover that the pads are not GM compatible so I'm thinking of cancelling my order. But if this script/template can be used for other drum libraries (or if there are existing templates for Superior Drummer/EZDrummer/Addictive Drums) that would be good to know.

    not sure what i did wrong but i managed to route sounds 2-16 correctly to ge them playing the cell i want them to in battery but when i tried to save the group, and then load a new group with that group preset it reverted all of the midi destination and channels back to the defaults and left just the sound 1 with battery loaded on it. i tried "save as" and "save with samples" and got the same result. the saved group shows up and i can load it but it just doesn't have the changes that i made when re routing the midi for sounds 2-16

    Thanks ! I was thinking about using battery, but I notice that the pads order in the plugin is reversed vertically ? compared to the layout on your maschine ?
    Actually it seems to me that most drum machines have pads that start bottom left, then fo to the right, and go up end of line. The Battery layout seems weird and confusing going down after one line, is that default ?

    Am I missing something? What is the benefit of leaving Maschine in pad mode vs. switching to Keyboard mode? If I load a Battery kit into Sound 1, then open the Battery instrument, I see in battery that the pads are mapped from A1 (on key C1) through to D4 (on key D#2). If I switch Maschine to Keyboard mode, and use Octave- to make sure that the lower left pad (1) is set to C1, I now have pads on the Maschine controller mapped to the pads in Battery.

    • @gamazonchad8309
      @gamazonchad8309 2 роки тому +1

      The transposition in Keyboard Mode will be lost the moment you switch back to Pad Mode. Moreover, using this method, you get to choose the Pad layout and only those desired Sounds!
      Thank you @Aftalyfe for detailed instructions and sharing other tips!

    Why doesnt it just default to having the battery layout match mashine so you dont have to re-map stuff? . is it just a coincidence that they both have 12 pads and look like they are designed to work together?

    Is there anyway to use this setup with battery kits that have more than 2 octaves? Not 4x4 but maybe 16 x 4

    • @aftalyfe
      @aftalyfe  3 роки тому +1

      I think your best bet for this scenario would be to find a controller with 64 pads. Since Maschine only has 16 sounds in one group this would always limit you to triggering only 16 samples without extra input. But if you still would like to use Maschine in this way you could create 4 different groups that trigger 4 different set of sounds and then load a kit with 64 samples on sound 1. However, I think you would have to load the same kit in each of the groups, as I dont think it's possible to route midi between groups. Might be wrong though, haven't actually tried it.

      @@aftalyfe only way is using keyboardmode and change the settings in battery. By the way, I really dont't understand NI not implement pad mode with pages and more than 16 sounds. You could set up for instance normal drum sound on page 1 and percussions on page 2. There seems to be a lack of imagination by the developers as it appears very often by NI.

    • @aftalyfe
      @aftalyfe  3 роки тому +1

      I think technically groups would be pages in that context.

    Is there a way to play the synths from battery on the piano? I put it in keyboard mode and get the same note/same sound.

    • @aftalyfe
      @aftalyfe  3 роки тому

      What you could do is create a pattern with just the sound from the kit you would like to play on the sound slot where your kit is loaded and then drag and drop this onto a new sound slot and keep that sound unaffected by any routing so that it's independent from the rest of the kit. There is an option to drag and drop midi and audio in the upper right corner of the note editor. Then you can play that sound via keyboard mode. It sounds like a hassle, but is actually just a few clicks. 😄

    • @D0YouLikeHam
      @D0YouLikeHam 2 роки тому

      pay attention to the notes the pads are mapped to... default seems to be C1 to D#2.. everything below C1 plays the same sound as C1, and everything above D#2 plays the same as D#2.

  • @algokose4027
    @algokose4027 2 роки тому

    You can also use the transpose dial in Maschine to change the note that the pad is triggering but I like your way better of actually changing the note. More efficient. Downloading your preset group as soon as I’m at my computer. Thanks!

    • @aftalyfe
      @aftalyfe  3 роки тому +2

      You don't have to use it, if you just want to lay down a groove maschine on its own is more than capable of doing it. That being said there are some battery kits that are not available as groups in maschine so this would come in handy in that case.

      Thats easy, you either have to open a software called controller editor and set the pads of the maschine controller to the same key the pads in battery are set to OR open battery in your daw and set the keys for the pads according to what note each pad is sending.
