From where you are at the beginning of this video if you decide to enter the 66 East Outside the Beltway Express at the start, you would miss the exit to 66 East, make a right turn at University Blvd, then make a left turn at the Interstate 66 bridge to access the 66 East Outside the Beltway Express Lanes. From there, you can make your own decision about where you exit the Express Lanes including the bailout exit at Route 286 where if you are using the 66 East Express Lanes as a toll-payer at the time, you can take the exit if you decide that the toll paid at the beginning of the express lanes trip is enough. If you decide to enter 66 East at US 29 in Gainesville, the first opportunity for this traffic to enter the 66 East Express Lanes is at the slip ramp just prior to exit 47/Sudley Rd. The first opportunity to exit the 66 East Express Lanes is at Exit 53/Virginia Route 28 North. This would be a safer exit from 66 East to 28 North than the 1/2 mile auxiliary lane in the regular 66 East lanes. The 66 Outside the Beltway website would get people to have advanced planning on where to enter and exit the express lanes in any particular direction.
If you do not want to use the 495 Express Lanes being already on the 66 East Express Lanes, there is no need to deal with the traffic in the regular lanes as this traffic is getting a separate ramp in order to allow this traffic to use the regular 495 lanes in either direction.
