This particular mall really hits pretty close to home.i remember the particular Christmas of 1983.when cabbage patch kids were all the rage.leave to this former Montgomery Ward to hold one for my late father .before I 390.when you either had to take route 53 or 59 to army trail road.one of my favorite memories of Stratford Square..then their was Molly’s ice cream parlor near where the Red Robin is today for a tin roof sundae.and Carlos Sweeney’s for dinner.i don’t forget the classics.then houlihans in my 20s.where both the former Harley Davidson and 25 west brewery are now.and who could forget Wiebolts.and Gantos.backrach for my dad and Carsons and Kinney shoes for us to look our Sunday best.then of course foot locker which is still there but for how much longer.then my very beautiful late aunt treating us to a movie at plitt theater for an icee and some movie popcorn with the way popcorn was meant to be enjoyed.i remember watching Et when I was 10.so many memories made here .ive described a few.stratford square offered something that was different then woodfield.something that was unique.the variety of stores and restaurants.it was prosperous for many years.it was 90% occupied for as long as I can remember.then came the 2010s.change and not welcomed change.the JCPenney closed in 2014.soon after they took over the former wiebolts.then came the Abercrombie and Fitch, then Charlotte Russe then Arby’s.then came here and there.then the Macy’s in 2017.then major stores in that wing of the mall.it still seemed to hang on but that’s only an expression.a year later it was Carsons as a company..then more stores here and there.a lot of mom and pop stores appeared.then Sears in November of 2019.then there was the idea of 60%entertainment and 40% retail.with the added 25 west brewery and the Harley Davidson and then Round one in the former Steve and Barry’s.then came the surprise purchase of the mall .in other words it changed hands.it was purchased by Namdar Realty in 2019.i really don’t know what’s in store now.a lot more empty storefronts.baskin Robbins,Victoria Secret, soon Express,Journeys.a lot more ghosts unfortunately.don’t know how safe the last 2 anchors and the theater are any more.the kohl’s was rumored to take over the former Kmart location across the street.but that never came quite to be.it almost happened.will the Burlington downsize this location.i believe the time has come to try something new here.to start from scratch and possibly demall this mall.maybe give it a new name and identity.try to save whatever tenants you have and help to offer them a future of investment and prosperity.make new memories with seeds of investment and inspiration.i have strong feelings about this property.but it will turn 40 in March of 2021.i believe life starts at 40.so give it new life instead of a fresh coat of paint.start with the drawing board instead of just drywall.don’t hide bring it outside.you can’t keep what you know inside forever.

I can't believe there was this much life at this mall only two years ago, considering what it looks like today. So wild and so sad. It's a beautiful mall!

_With everything happening in the world right now, it makes me wonder what places will not ever open back up. Malls are really going to suffer with so many big box stores getting close to filing for bankruptcy. I've always loved malls, but they may all be a thing of the past if the economy doesn't change somehow. Open, dying, or dead, I'll still go to see these malls whenever possible._

Richard Dremden Wolf I am shocked you found this video. I started filming right before covid-19 so this is the only mall video I have. I will film more once all this ends. We have 2 lord and Taylor’s in my area and I will only get to 1 and I will film that during liquidation if they do liquidate all there stores once this ends. I also like your channel a lot.

Crazy how quickly this mall went downhill once Covid hit. Only a year after you filmed this the mall was pretty much dead; it finally closed in April 2024.

Yep, I visited the mall on the final day it was open, and uploaded a video from the 2nd to final day.
