George you are so humble and grateful for everything you have you are such a brilliant man, you have a creative mind and a great personality. Love You George.

So level headed and centered despite being the biggest star in the world at this point. I think that people now don't understand how famous he was. I think he looks sensational, only 22 and with such a beautiful face. I loved this particular era. People say he looks ill in the comment section - he isn't on drugs here. His make up is sparse except for lipstick and the heavy foundation. No eyebrows penciled in, quite unusual for him actually. This was filmed as the 'Waking Up with the house on fire' tour concluded in New York in late 1984. He flew his family in to see Culture Club play Madison Square Garden, a career high point for the band. Shortly after this, Boy George flew back to England to record The Band Aid single.
They were under incredible pressure by this time ,George was in the papers almost every day at this period, the press were obsessed with him. In 84 there were two people who if they were in a paper or magazine sales would skyrocket , those people were Boy George and Princess Diana, thats how famous George was then. The problem is when the press build someone up to that extent ,they enjoy pulling them from the pedestal. Princess Diana didn't survive the press turning on her ,George did!
I wish there were a copy ,a dvd,or something of the "waking up with the house on fire tour' from 1984.Only found a audio of one but no video so i guess it is because video cameras, etc weren't a thing then but i remember seeing the tour nov.3,1984 in chattanooga,tn. since it was my very first concert i had ever been to.
I ADORE the live version of The Dive. I really wish the album version had the spunk the live version did. If it was released as a single in it's more raw and cool back to basics live version, I really think it would have been particularly a HUGE single in America.
A live record of “The Dive” would not have really worked as a single. It obviously sounds better live, yes. It’s definitely one of the stronger songs on the Waking Up album.
That's not conceited. Culture Club had a lot of influence on a lot of things. George has had A LOT of influence on the pop scene. Love Boy George, and he's right about us fans. We are SO VERY LOYALl. WE'LL ALWAYS BE HERE SUPPORTING THEM, NO MATTER WHAT!
i m hearing the words of George and they sound like the bible to me..... the world s really crazy, we re too uptight in many things, until people relize who you really are fame means nothing, dont take yourself too seriously cause li fe aint it either...... he says all of this by laughing, but here is wiseness behind his words..... thanx man,ops..boy ;)
As I mentioned above in a reply, I tend to agree this interview was filmed right around the beginning of his drug-taking period. He's not on heroin here (at least he doesn't appear to be) but i would not be surprised to know he had started smoking pot by then - his voice is noticeably hoarse, especially his singing voice in the live concert clips. A very sad period in his life. After going on and falling off the wagon several times in the 90's and 200's, George finally cleaned up and has been completely drug and alcohol free for almost ten years.
George, I love you however, your statement about who change MTV. .ichael Jackson opened the door , for Prince and many other blk's. It was said and now it's written. Still love you in a big way ❤ 💙 💓
George and Culture Club hit first on MTV before Michael Jackson did by a matter of months, so George is right, although Jackson would undoubtedly have a much longer impact.
1984 I would think, and then more in 1985 when many were saying they were washed up...which was pretty much true. They were really only big for 2 years...from September 1982 until the end of 1984. However in that 2 years they were massive conquering both sides of the Atlantic which not all bands achieve. Some songs have also aged well like Time, Victims and Church. There isn't a dud song on Colour by Numbers...a brilliant album. Better than Waking Up which is just so unbelievably hideous.
@@club1fan552 I wasnt around in the 80s but I like they're songs too especially Victims! And yes some songs HAVE aged well. Proof? 2 contestants on The Voice covered "karma" & "Do you Really
@@club1fan552Waking Up unfortunately was caused by the record label pushing the band to make another album when they really didn’t feel ready to do one. That album really was the beginning of the end because it caused people who were their biggest detractors to assume they had been right all along that their success had been essentially a fluke, which sadly it really wasn’t if you had heard the first two albums.
It doesn't matter who you are or how famous you think you are. If you start act like a twat then you will be treated how you want to be treated full stop.

I've never seen George in this look (hat). I love it! I believe he looks pale bc of the makeup. I didn't realize how handsome Jon was.

He definitely helped get more teenage girls and children in general into pop music again. He was like an alternative teen idol.
Thanks for sharing. It's great to see C.C. at this particular point in time which I guess must be late '84 or early '85...
Thanks for watching.
i love everything about him...
Martha Mcfadden
.
It's nice seeing Boy George's Mother Dinah sitting next to him.
Yes, she was lovely but did not want to have the spotlight! Thanks for watching. Best to you...
I love his honesty here about how the hotel treated him. So level headed. Though I'd have left and stayed elsewhere.

Was this the beginning of the drug period, its late 84 early 85?

Mummy is here and lover Jon Moss.
Yes Boy George double standard even in 2020

What year did George started using drugs?

Kind of mean, George, but clearly he is not well..
Deborah, Thanks for watching. Hope you will take a look at the other interviews on my Channel. Blessings to you.
Deborah Scofield
He really does look ill
What did he say that was mean though???
Agree with you 💯

True. But like George said, the ladies at the restaurant only started being nice cus they knew he was a celeb. How pathetic
