Excellent analysis. Pros and cons, practical testing, not yelling jokes or over acting. Thanks man, I may try this one out. Bought the BT Defender after watching your last vid.
Just got this controller today after watching a few reviews. I knew this because of the reviews, but just has to be said again... if you have big hands this controller may feel a bit awkward to use. I have kinda big hands so it is taking some getting used to but I think that I will be able to deal with it. The controller feels very premium, unlike the majority of 3rd party controllers out there. I will be using it for PC mostly and it is great that it includes the dongle in the dock. I absolutely hate using Bluetooth controllers on PC, so I have been using wired to avoid lag and disconnects. 2.4GHz is a world of difference over Bluetooth. No noticable lag and hopefully no disconnects. If you're on the fence about this controller, it's a great purchase especially for PC.
you have so much info i have nothing to ask. i will add just two info: - the hall effect joystick are k-silver JH16 it doesn't have GuliKit sticks like the Ultimate Bluetooth but these are also excellent - in Bluetooth mode there are many software on windows to emulate it as an x-input controller like Scptoolkit and XInputPlus.

Just wanted to add that I was able to connect this controller to steam deck with dinput overall bluetooth perfectly fine. The steam deck interface switched itself over to xbox interface and everything works fine.
Nice review! Well paced and easy to digest One question, can you change the input in one of the buttons with a keyboard key? Like putting the back button with the tab key to speak on the mic for those coop games
Thank you for the kind comment! Unfortunately no, the input can't be changed to a keyboard key. Your best bet would be to map the button to that keyboard key in-game. Steam doesn't natively pick up the back buttons either; it's treated as an Xbox controller for all intents and purposes.
Hey man! encountered this video by coincidence since my prev controller broke and now am looking for one! and honestly, it's a tough one between this 'updated' 2.4g version of the ultimate or the new ultimate 2C. Heard you say the dpad is not good for fighting games, thankfully I am not a FG player. If you got any experience with the 2C, do let me know!
great review! this one has been on my wishlist for a while but the lack of steamdeck/linux support is a complete bummer. even if it connected and was updateable or programmable through the mobile app that would be at least something. thank you for going in depth on the weird and inconsistent compatibilities. 8-bitdo's tiered naming convention system is less than ideal.
Thank you for the kind comment and glad the video was useful! I should mention that the controller is perfectly usable on Steam Deck (both wired and via the dongle) but it can't be updated or customized on Deck. Just making that clear.
Wow great and really entertaining video! Altho if you are open to doing more reviews, could you review the Gamesir G7 SE? And maybe even do a comparision between these two controllers. I looking to buy a controller and I have decided between these two but cant figure out which will be better
Thank you for the kind comment! I definitely want to do more controller reviews in the future. Gamesir as a company seems very interesting. No promises on a G7 review because I'd have to buy it first, but I'll see what I can do.
@@Shrev64 Wow really fast reply! Thanks for keeping my suggestion, and its nice to see ur planning to do more controller reviews. Your videos are really fun to watch (and kinda funny)
Difficult to say without knowing your use case. Honestly both are very good and it comes down to your preferences. If you're on Windows and you don't mind replacing batteries then the Xbox controller is a solid option. If you're on Steam Deck then either one works great (Xbox for Bluetooth or 8BitDo for Bluetooth or with the 2.4GHz dongle). If you play a lot of d-pad heavy games, then absolutely go with the Xbox controller. I recommend trying both to see which one fits better in your hands. They're similar but they also have their subtle differences.
Hello, 8bitdo released the model 8bitdo ultimate 3 mode, which essentially makes an improvement on the d-pad and shoulder buttons since makes them clickier, and also changes a outer ring for smoothness in the joystick, would you recommend that over this for PC gaming?
Difficult for me to say without having tried them, but at least on my end, the Ultimate 3-mode is $20 more expensive, which makes it difficult for me to instantly recommend over the Ultimate 2.4G Hall.
for me after playing with Gamesir G7 HE i need the mechanical bottons on a controller like this , if they add that it would be a perfect controller for me like the G7 HE
@@Shrev64 all good man. It worked for me on my Mac Mini M2 Pro but I needed to do some weird "unwritten setting" that I found on UA-cam before it connected.
The ability to put the dongle in the dock and still use it to save a USB slot on the PC is genius. I would have never tried that without this video.
It is quite clever!

Have you experienced any negatives with the Retro Fighter PS3 controller?

@RionRedemp83 google about a teardown video.

The Bluetooth mode actually works wirelessly with the steam deck
Price aside, which one do you recommend? 8bitdo ultimate or Xbox series X controller with Charge and play kit.

The PS3 controller actually also uses hall effect sticks.
Some of them, especially the early ones, but not all of them.

Does it have gyro ?
No
This one is better than ps5 controller ?
Just the hall effect alone makes it better than the stick drift simulator that is the ps5 controller
youve got really nice hair
lmao thank you
Using mine right now... Gotta say, D-Pad is truly dog poop... Almost enough to send it back.....Aside from that, decent
