My experience with defending this year is that you sit back with your centre backs and the dribbling error mechanics will give them a slightly bigger touch then step in with a standing tackle
Use some dms for more aggressive defending

On my account I started in div 10 as I didn’t play much last year. Had been smashing it pretty consistently the whole time til I got to div 6 and it’s brick wall😂. Figure I need to wait for more good players to work there way past div 6 so I can intercept the bad players as they come through instead😂

I would honestly just see what is the best italian/french center back you have. If you have a good italian one get dimarco RTTK on for 10 games, if its french keep Bacha. Bayern munich center back could also work with kimmich and coman + manager, Ben white doesnt fit imo

I'm a couple episodes behind, so no idea if you're reading this, but anyway. I feel the way you set up the rewards system is not really working well.
With this current system you're better off playing in a division as low as possible, so you can try for win streaks. Once you lose a match, you kinda want to lose several more, so you can then try to go for a win streak again without the risk of promotion. Wanting to avoid promotions is not good for gameplay.
A system that rewards promotions, that rewards playing in higher divisions, is more fun for us viewers.
I'm thinking something like wins = packs, but with multipliers depending on the division you're in.
Win in div 10 = Bronze pack, in div 9 = Silver pack, in div 8 = Gold pack, but then in div 7 it starts getting interesting.
Win in div 7 = cheapest promo pack (25K one?), in div 6 = two times the value of the cheapest promo pack (so for example 2x 25K or 1x 45K or 50K), in div 5 = three times the value of the cheapest promo pack, etc.
These are just examples, the actual multipliers per division are of course up to debate. Maybe 0.5 extra pack per higher division instead of 1 extra pack if you find it too much.
That way you have an incentive to get promoted to higher divisions, instead of an incentive to stay as low as possible. At the same time, you're not getting punished as much if you happen to go win-loss-win-loss in an episode, because with this system you're getting two wins worth of GOOD packs, instead of two wins worth of regular Gold packs that are pretty much useless in your div 6 or 5 anyway.
You can still use other incentives too, such as rage quit = pack (of that division), clean sheet = pack, so you have reasons to push for those things too. I just don't think rewarding win streaks like you do here is a good idea for gameplay.

To get back to the ladder system why don’t you add 10k coins to your “bank” for a win. You can keep adding money but if you loose reset to zero. Rage quit would give 10k coins etc
