I'm hoping that all the dislikes are from people that are currently still young and beautiful ... Because this song is absolutely dead on! Love these guys!
I'll be 48 next week. Bought DK give me convenience.... at12. Suicidal at 13 and leave home by Ramones. Small Town skate kid. South county Massachusetts. 87 changed my life. Forever. Still laughing still listening still learning. Still drinking. Let's go!
yeah i'll admit bands like Falling in Reverse and Bring Me the Horizon are pretty shitty but Epitaph is a huge label we cant expect every single band they sign to cater to us punks
Video is predictably insane. Song is unpredictably smooth - very 'Greatest Story Ever Told' rather than 'Oh Calcutta!'. Whatever, I am excited, this will probably be a top five album of the year however it turns out.
I never wanted to die old, But it's too late now, My heart has grown so cold. And the corpse I leave behind Ain't gonna be, No pretty boy It's a sick sack of disease. We thought about Ways we'd love to go. High and beautiful, And fucking in the snow. On New Years Day or Christmas Eve, On a warm November night buried beneath the orange leaves. It's a few dreams on the ways that we could leave. My heart got kicked out of all its homes, And dying young just didn't work and so I guess I'm dying old And there ain't nowhere left to go, 'Cause all my loves would rather be alone. And yesterday I woke up to find, The black in my beard had turn to white. And the pretty girls that used to smile at me, Just stared off straight ahead or looked down at their feet. So tonight I'll sit up here With these street lights and these seventeen beers. Straight from the page of a teenage diary, Underneath these shitty stars like I was seventeen. (I mean) That my heart got kicked out of all its homes, And dying young just didn't work and so I guess I'm dying old And there ain't nowhere left to go, 'Cause all my loves would rather be alone. And there ain't nowhere left to go, 'Cause all my loves would rather be alone.
nocontrol628 That's such a douchey thing to say. You're not fucking special because you've known the Lawrence Arms longer than this guy. He might be 15 just discovering you should be happy people are still getting into them and not just the same folk. Seriously dude.
I love how that this band I grew up listening to, have brought out a new album that is not only awesome, they're singing about being in their 30s. Nothing sadder than being a 40 year old punk singing about being a teenager (ahem, Good Riddance).
I was talking about the band Good Riddance. Their album Symptoms of a Leveling Spirit came out in the early noughties and I personally think it's a good album, but there were some older fans who were upset by a few of the teeny angst lyrics. I seem to remember pictures of old fat tattood angry looking punks standing cross armed during certain songs, refusing to get involved.
BrenMan94 My Interpretation: The song is about growing up. Simple. The title, "17th and 37th" refer to the age Brendan was when he started Slapstick and how old he is now (at the time the record was released). Seventeener (17th And 37th)" I never wanted to die old, But it's too late now, My heart has grown so cold. Even knowing that 17 is an icp reference it's still going over my head. I have no idea what the lyrics are trying to imply? Only thing I'm drawing a connection to is it has something to do with being young or maybe holding onto your youth fuck if I know. Shit makes no sense to me.
Are they supposed to be Rancid when they are dressed like street punks? He is even playing his guitar down at his knees like Tim Armstrong. Not sure if its a knock at them or not.
I'm hoping that all the dislikes are from people that are currently still young and beautiful ... Because this song is absolutely dead on! Love these guys!

No song better conveys the innate acceptance one must go through when they realize they are getting old.
This song hits hard. Especially about the part where he saw that the black in his beard had turned white. Lol.. real, though.
Oh, to meet you guys. I've been a fan since 1998. i'm 41 now.
I've loved this band forever. From Slapstick to Lawrence Arms to Alkaline Trio. Holy shit...
The Holy Trinity of punk rock.
I listen to this song on my birthday every year. See you next year me!
Did you make it back?
Thats why im here today!
I don't think I've ever heard a song that made me wish I was a 40 year old man just so it would be relevant to my life because its so amazing.
it ain't all it's cracked up to be
We'll always have the memories lads :)
Don't pine for middle age, it will be all over you in no time at all.....
I'm 50 and I relate completely
Shut the fuck up dude.
The "When I Come Around" part is awesome. What a great band/song/video
I totally noticed that.
I saw that. It’s when I come around, ruby soho and all the small things.
Goes all the way back to Welcome to the Jungle at the very beginning
Edit: I'm that old
This song has such amazing texture.. But the ICP reference was why I clicked. This was a really good song and video. Keep it up guys.
Finally something good back on Epitaph!
go listen to Off With Their Heads or The Mezingers. There's plenty of good stuff on Epitaph still
MRMOOSE987 RIGHT!
MRMOOSE987 I love those bands, I just think they're being overshadowed by the crap that they've been signing these past years.
yeah i'll admit bands like Falling in Reverse and Bring Me the Horizon are pretty shitty but Epitaph is a huge label we cant expect every single band they sign to cater to us punks
Damn just gonna call out like 50 bands like that haha
Greatest Story Ever Told - all time favorite album, glad this resembles that. Can't wait for this album to drop.
This song hits so hard when you're over 30
Or 40… 🥲
My all time heroes are back!
BIG BIG BIG UP FOR LARRY ARMS!!!! WELCOME BACK!! AMAZING LYRIC AND SONG!!!!
I'm a stay at home dad now, just like Brendan Kelly! This song is fucking awesome and the kids love it!
How old am I? I'm "Dude knocked the payphone off the receiver and now I have When I Come Around stuck in my head" years old.
Great Video And My Favorite by The Lawrence Arms / Hope to see them live one day.
Love the public phone scene! Green Day "When I Come Around"
i thought i was the only one who noticed
And Mr. T Experience Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba. The spiritual sequel to When I Come Around.
I’m 37 now, so this is extra special. I should go to Pinks sometime soon in honor of this song.
Best. Song. Ever.
refreshing to hear good music released on epitaph, great song, great video!

Best Band ever
I'm going to keep listening 🎧 next beer please 🥺 haha 😆
This is good.
Here because I recommended the band Pistolita to someone years younger than me. And They loved them. Wish THEY were still making music.
This video makes me smile.
These guys deserve more views!

I don't know if it's just me but I find this song incredibly sad.
Magic. Good show lads.
i think two thousand of those views are mine. love it.
Love this song. Love the band. As a thirtysomething who thought he was pretty awesome in his 20s, this song hits home a bit.
such a good one guys, I love these gems. I only wish I knew about yall when this stuff was coming out.
Asian man records' fb post brought me here.. Good to hear this..
so great song!so great band! love you forever
I LOVE THIS BAND AND ALL THE SONGS
The pain this song inflicts on my soul… it’s too much.
Gotta love the Green Day - When I Come Around reference!
Raw, poppy, garage band punk. I like it.
you are just now discovering the Lawrence arms? lol
Nothing about this is raw or garage punk.
nocontrol628
That's such a douchey thing to say. You're not fucking special because you've known the Lawrence Arms longer than this guy. He might be 15 just discovering you should be happy people are still getting into them and not just the same folk. Seriously dude.
wrong,I am special because ive know the Lawrence arms longer than him
nocontrol628 That makes you a pretentious douche bag.

You realize the band wasn't in their 40s the near 20 years ago that song came out?
Seventeener? That came out this year...
Oli_BN1 you put Good Riddance in parenthesis so I thought you were talking about green day lol
I was talking about the band Good Riddance. ah lol ok that makes more sense
Wow, great! At the moment the best of this new album!
these guys are just having fun doing what they love and getting paid for it love the parody on all the dif music fads
I caught myself laughing at the video and also feeling my heart break from listening. Such an emotional song, this shit will never get old.
This song gives me so much nostalgia
Turning 35 soon, still got 2 good years in me
loved the rancid impersonation in this, haha
Dude the whole Brendan pulling the pay phone off the hook, Derek fixing it and Chris pulling it back off is chef kiss.
This will be the best Epitaph release of the year unless Propagandhi puts out another masterpiece in 2014
Fuckin A RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can not wait tll this album comes out SO STOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
boring
Metropole is such a depressing album... Dont get me wrong, I enjoy it, but damn..
this songs kinda sad.. makes me wonder what it will feel like to be in my 30's still playing punk and hardcore music... jesus christ.. time flies

The Lawrence Arms are the best emo band disguised as a punk band.
1:04 will never not make me cackle
Lawrence arms, a force for good
1:18 is the most hilarious thing ever.
Whoop whoop. Straight up
whoop whoop
I like it.
This is the greatest thing I've ever see. Hahaha
What a great tune. I came here because I heard the band was good. Saw a solo performance from Punk news which was unlistenable but this is sweet
not giving a fuck about Radiohead or taking myself too seriously. This is why TLA are my spirit band
Best ever
This band is fucking awesome!

Cocktails and dreams one of the best albums imo
this is good soft music
So, uh... yeah I'm pretty sure 1:46 awakened something in me
I love these fuckin' guys!
juggaloes whoop whoop lol
1:18
Why the icp paint?
Yeah it kind of went over my head with what they're implying a lil bit too. 17 is an icp reference too so it's even part of the song title.
I’ve tried for over 20 years to like this band and they just never caught on with me. I’ve never heard one catchy song by them
okay, so the ICP thing may have gone over my head, I concede I may not be educated enough to understand the depths of all the metaphors happening...
Even knowing that 17 is an icp reference it's still going over my head. I have no idea what the lyrics are trying to imply? Only thing I'm drawing a connection to is it has something to do with being young or maybe holding onto your youth fuck if I know. Shit makes no sense to me.
Pretty awesome .0.
Are they supposed to be Rancid when they are dressed like street punks? He is even playing his guitar down at his knees like Tim Armstrong. Not sure if its a knock at them or not.
These lyrics...
It sounds like the Atari's from "so long Astoria" just with a different singer
Wtf 10 years ago what's happening??
Seen**
Hahaha making fun of all the big punk bands. Like an homage and satire of blink 182, Green Day and rancid. Just now caught that.
lyrics anyone?
what on earth.
whoop whoop juggalo's down with the clown until i'm dead in the ground
can hear Leatherface
lel insane clown posse
Funny that's rancid hes making fun of and gnr in the intro w wheat in his mouth
Ma dudes
whoop whoop mmfwcl
2:16 🤷🏻♂️ 🤡 😈 🤷🏻♂️
Where was the girl in the band that does the singing? Why wasn't she in the video?
what are you talking about?
Last comment
wow they became so pop... i was just listening to oh calcutta and wondered what they were sounding like more recently
Yesterday
I woke up to find
The black in my beard
Had turned to white
Man that line cuts deep...
Çlit 🤣🤣
kind of reminds me of Blink-182....i'm disappointed, my ears like :)
Check out Banner Pilot. Legit Blink 182 vibes, but better.
Pretty disappointing. Damn.
