Having been a high school teacher in Southern Ontario for 35 years, I can’t say enough about being involved in these sorts of performances for the students. They really appreciate the fact that we are willing to go out and perform in, for them, off the wall sorts of ways. We become more human and approachable. Kudos to these teachers!
I did performances like this with teachers & staff for Homecoming at Norte Vista HS in Riverside. We had a blast at rehearsals and the performance! The kids loved it & if you messed up, so what? The kids loved it even more!!!
I watched this grinning from ear to year. Then I had tears streaming down my cheeks. Not out of happiness, but out of longing to create a society where we can have our students together without fear of being emotionally hurt, getting sick, or being shot. Wish my late wife, a teacher all her life, could have seen this. She would have done anything to see such. a display of teacher fun and joy. She advocated for that all her teaching career!!!

I went to 4 different high schools in 4 different cities, 2 different states in the late '60s/early 70's. Whitmer was, by far, my best experience and provided me the tools and guidance to develop confidence, self-esteem, and a drive to push myself to be better. I am so happy to see this video, and to know that the teachers and administrators in that institution are still dedicated to students.

Students should know that teachers are human who like the same things as students ... with the same energy in expressing those likes. The teacher in the front with the blonde pony tail killed it. This was great!! I went to an extremely small school and for the end of the year it was things like rope pull and silly games but it was each grade against the teachers. It was fun.
Every school year all the staff to perform a skit to introduce our Reading contests, after the skit the kids were smiling at us and we were smiling back great start. We also had 30 mins before class started in the gym with music to dance stretching out the wiggles out singing with actions. Everyone had a blast and off to our classrooms, this program put smiles on their faces and that’s how we started our days. Hats off to are wonderful PE instructor and her helpers who would stand by the K-3 students Our goal was to be fit, wake up our brain and have fun the instructor kept the fun rolling along we were one big family, the 70-90s were the best years to teach.
Love it! You can see the connection your students have with you, teachers! As a former high school teacher, those special times were what teaching was all about!
This is why we need to protect our public schools and teachers across America. They show up an go beyond both time wise and financially EVERY day. And, they truly do it because they care.
They all need raises - which may happen now that Biden will be President. Whitmer is in Toledo, OH, a blue area. My guess is many of these teachers voted for Biden.
My favorite teacher in high school was my choir teacher. He made every day in his class fun. I will never forget him. These teachers really get that. God bless them.

Just came across this. WOW!!! I would love to see this in every school. What an inspiration for students and parents alike. I can't imagine the amount of hard work and coordination that went into getting everyone on board. Hours and hours of practice on top of regular teaching leading up to homecoming! Again, WOW!!!
My daughter and I did this dance as a surprise Bride / Father dance during her reception after her wedding. It was so much fun. We practiced for almost two months. Thank you for the inspiration and choreography.

I loved this so much I've watched it several times. It took guts for the teachers to put themselves out there and the kids showing their enthusiasm and appreciation was very uplifting. Heck, even the administrators joined in. Now that's school spirit. That's a school assembly worth having!
With so much going bad in our schools now days it's awesome to watch something like this to see teachers students and officers enjoying their year together it helps restore a little faith back into our school systems:)

I am a teacher too, and I can’t dance worth a damn, but these guys can and the ones that weren’t so great sure put in a lot of effort. And the kids were having a blast-stuff like this really means a lot to them. This is a great song and the movements are fun. Never in a million years would ANY of my teachers, male or female, have ever done this or anything close to it ... school basically sucked back then ... graduated in 1969 and damn how we needed something like this to get us out of the Nam mindset of we were expected to grow up fast and join the world as productive members of society ..... no room for fun
Watch it once for the performance, the second time watch the audience. Whoever choregraphed this picked the *perfect* parts of the song to add more people...and in the correct order--the last people you'd ever expect to join jumped in last, it naturally built the audience response. Kudos!

It’s good for young people to see that their elders, teachers, parents, family, bosses, etc....can have a good time. Reminds them that they were young once too and can relate to them. Perhaps even give advice that can help.
They killed it. This is why songs like this exist. To really enjoy them.

Just came across this. WOW!!! I would love to see this in every school. What an inspiration for students and parents alike. I can't imagine the amount of hard work and coordination that went into getting everyone on board. Hours and hours of practice on top of regular teaching leading up to homecoming! Again, WOW!!!
I just wish I was on that dance floor with them. What an awesome experience for them and the kids!
My daughter and I did this dance as a surprise Bride / Father dance during her reception after her wedding. It was so much fun. We practiced for almost two months. Thank you for the inspiration and choreography.

I hadn't seen this video before today but it's not too late to tell these teachers how awesome they are for this! Every teacher in the world isn't cut out for things like this but it sure is fantastic to see those who are putting the talent to use like this... Thank you for showing your students that kind of commitment and love. And students, thanks for returning that love the way you did... That kind of give and take shows your appreciation for the amount of time and energy these teachers obviously invested . I loved this.. thanks for sharing it.

I loved this so much I've watched it several times. It took guts for the teachers to put themselves out there and the kids showing their enthusiasm and appreciation was very uplifting. Heck, even the administrators joined in. Now that's school spirit. That's a school assembly worth having!
With so much going bad in our schools now days it's awesome to watch something like this to see teachers students and officers enjoying their year together it helps restore a little faith back into our school systems:)

Our high school teachers did a lot of fun stuff for us in the 70s, but what I wouldn’t have given to see them do this and also to have a video of it to always remember it by. Great job, faculty! Memorable for all of us!
I am a teacher too, and I can’t dance worth a damn, but these guys can and the ones that weren’t so great sure put in a lot of effort. And the kids were having a blast-stuff like this really means a lot to them. This is a great song and the movements are fun. I love the one that the guy put together with the old movie stars dancing to uptown funk. That video is brilliant. Check that out.

Never in a million years would ANY of my teachers, male or female, have ever done this or anything close to it ... school basically sucked back then ... graduated in 1969 and damn how we needed something like this to get us out of the Nam mindset of we were expected to grow up fast and join the world as productive members of society ..... no room for fun
Watch it once for the performance, the second time watch the audience. Whoever choregraphed this picked the *perfect* parts of the song to add more people...and in the correct order--the last people you'd ever expect to join jumped in last, it naturally built the audience response. Kudos!
