  • Tasty street style Maharashtra famous Batata Vada.
    INGREDIENTS (8 VADAS):
    For Filling:
    Boiled potato - 500 gram
    Chilli, ginger & garlic paste - 2-3 tablespoons
    Curry leaves - 1-2 string
    Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
    Salt - as needed
    Mustard seeds - ½ tablespoon
    Cumin seeds/ jeera - ½ tablespoon
    Oil - 2-3 tablespoons
    Coriander seeds - handful
    Lemon juice - ½ lemon
    For Batter:
    Gram flour - 200 gram
    Salt - as needed
    Asafoetida powder - 1 teaspoon
    Water - as needed
    RECIPE:
    1. Mash the boiled potato without lumps.
    2. Heat oil and splutter mustard seeds and jeera. Add curry leaves and chilli ginger and garlic paste. Add turmeric powder and salt. Cook for 2 minutes till the raw smell goes away.
    3. Add the mashed potato and mix evenly. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
    4. Switch off the flame and add lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix evenly.
    5. In a mixing bowl, take gram flour, turmeric powder, salt and asafoetida powder. Mix them. Add water gradually and make a medium thick batter which can stick to the potato filling.
    6. Heat oil. Take a lemon size potato filling and dip in the batter. Drop gently in oil. Cook in medium flame till golden brown color.
    7. Serve hot with sukhi chutney and hari chutney
