The point could be that it can come from anyone. Like most of these assaults don't happen in dark alleys or dimly lit bars; they come from people that the victim knows and trusts. Even a nice kid can be a predator.
I felt the exact same about Jacob. A character that started off bad, in a bad situation, but worked so damn hard to improve himself and he ended up in a nice relationship with a nice girl. Then the writers had to go and change him back and yet ruin the happy and improved relationship with him and Amy. I know jacobs actor wanted to leave, but still, he deserved a better exit storyline than just relapsing.

I reckon we do need more serious story's where a woman is violent towards a man, but I think it's unfair to say that men are never the victims because in Corrie, that's just not true. We also had Aidan's suicide and Steve's clinical depression. Also, I think that we can advocate for more discussion about male abuse survivors without being putting down anyone who tries to discuss female abuse survivors. Men being abused doesn't change the fact that women are being abused. We should be discussing all types of abuse, not trying to make one more important than the other.
