Talking abouyt security. In May 2023 I arrived thru Terminal 4 and the over reaching baggage search was in progress for everybody except families with kids. In Sep 2023 I arrived in Terminal 3 and aftr I collected my bags I walked straight out. They were not searching bags at all. Friends who arrived and the same day I did they went thru Terminal 4 and they were thoroughly searched.
The reason you got selected for security screening is you were filming. They did this to me last year. Turn your camera off unless you like to get searched.

There must have been an alert or something for someone coming from Canada. We were there mid-Nov 2024 and luggage was fast, immigration was all of 2 minutes and there was only one dog that didn’t even look at hardly anybody.

What terminal was that? We got stuck in similar circumstances in terminal 2 arriving from the UK, not much fun after a 10:40 min flight, bags took ages to come through then we got stuck in a huge queue as customs officers were searching everybody's bags, usually you hit the red button of doom and take your chance, however this time they were searching everyone, it took over 2 hours to get through customs and we were on a transfer coach so those of us that got stuck held up those who got through pretty quickly, in fact the TUI rep said the coach was about to leave without us. Not sure what the reason for the hold up was but bags from a flight from Bogota were coming through on the same carousel as ours so maybe a narcotics tip off or maybe it was because of the new rules on bringing vape products in to Mexico, who knows, ll I know is it was horendous.
In June, I have a layover in Cancun; on my way to Medellin. I hate, hate, hate to travel; but, your video calmed me down about circumventing the airport and boarding the ADO bus to the hotel. I take the bus in Colombia all the time and the ADO seems similar. Thx for taking the time to do that. Great, informative video . . . . .
So one big reason that you may have been searched was that you panicked and held back when you saw all the dos and officers. That is what security considers furtive action.

Did you need fill out an FMM form? I have read that tourists (including Canadians) need to complete the tourist card ahead of arrival, but if arriving in Cancun (and some other busy Mexican airports) it is not required? Did you need to provide an FMM form either upon arrival or when coming home?

I hear customs is charging an "electronic's fee" if you have more than one laptop. Is this true? Also, what about the FMM? is that paid when you buy the plane tickets online or is it paid at customs in Mexico (airport)?

I have been to Cancun 10 times and never seen dogs nor had my bags searched! They don’t care about tourists coming in with a little weed or extra booze. What happened to you is certainly not the normal at Cancun airport
Great info on the process but too bad the exaggerations like Gong show, Dogs all over you. and labouring the point how long it took. There were several people that went to the carousel and walked ahead of you and were not slowed down at all. I would have shared this with lots of people but it’s too biased on problems that were essentially your own doing; Filming. Hanging back. Even your own explanation that you figured you would get through if you hung back. The staff did their job properly based on your actions.

Cancun Airport sucks BIG TIME. Migration there is completely out of control. Worst experience I ever had. Avoid at all costs.
