seems to be it, and I think it might be worth getting a stronger recoil spring like the BavTac(or other maker) 115%. just so it can push the bolt through with the optimal dust cover tightness. if TM had to specify in the manual of this issue then they had significant number of tested units with this issue. though i'm surprised I haven't read/heard more about it from others. you mentioned the dust cover being slightly angled down. i'mma suggest something bubba would do lol but can you shim the underside of the front curve on the dust cover so that it is raised. maybe it won't graze on the bolt that way.
Don't know what to say. I've always tightened it like crazy and never had this issue after a year of use. I'm also an active member of the GBBR HRC Discord and nobody on the TM AK channel had this issue. It's strange. Maybe your dust cover is slightly softer and manages to bend in that weird way.
I can hand tighten my trunnion to the max and it causes no issue, but there are tolerance differences in Tokyo Marui’s (they are still better than other Airsoft manufacturers). I have 2 MWS’s and the receiver wobble and mag well tolerances are comparably very noticeable, so might be a tolerance issue here to. Glad it’s fixed!
@@MaydaysanAirsoftyes I am using the more powerful green gas, nice call. It’s a shame you can’t run green gas, as you could then add the Bavtac 115% recoil spring and never have this issue again. Hope CQB rocks!
Question for the real experts - are AKX/AKM parts compatible with the TM AK Storm? E.g. could I fit that sexy handguard from the AKX on the Storm? Thanks!
Hey Maydensan. Also another tip to keep an eye out for, will be the screws that keeps the nozzle assembly together. I've done many upgrades to my akx and ran into this issue.
Same here, never had any problems. now running with bavtac 115% recoil spring and heavy recoil piston and shoots absolutely perfect, running red gas with Ibex N--pas.
Marui won't put it in the manual if it was a defect. TM standards won't let even a little defect like that pass QC. So yea prolly you guys are using higher pressure gas that's why you didn't experience it
@@MaydaysanAirsoft it would allow you to tighten the dust cover so you don't lose zero and avoid over tightening in as a quality of life. AK dust covers generally are not the best for optics but this can be mitigated without having to deal with the rubbing against the bolt carrier that you experienced.
I wonder if it will loosen overtime and you have to retighten it again. Seems like a minor annoyance that I would rather not deal with. Maybe getting the AKM and just getting a different mounting solution would be best. Thanks for the info tho.
i ended up getting the repro AK Master Mount so I can put a side mount rail. I used to have the C&C Tac Dog Leg railed dust cover but that was so loose sideways. the repro master mount isn't perfect though, I can still forcefully pull up and down on it, so I need to recheck the elevation on my optics. I did get the FCW one and not the DyTac/Arron Smith but I'm sure they are the same makers.
@@MaydaysanAirsoft that's just a video novoritsch made about some people were having issues with his HK usp and the guy filmed the issue and gave his experience with novoritsch cs and it was bad. They they then made a video on how to pull the trigger and it wasn't long before it was taken down

Could be that must us boys watching overseas don't have this problem because green gas/propane just pushes the bolt through the resistance? Also reading the manual is not really an option for us not japanese speakers. :D As for how to get the setting everytime maybe mark it with a paint marker so it lines up everytime with the trunion and a line on the dustcover?

If it was in the manual then you're not wrong
reasonable, not many guys can calmly troubleshoot anything when their angry girlfriend is next to them
haha one must retain patience
Counterintuitive that they design a dust cover that can be screwed in to not have any play, but thats what causes malfunctions...
Sometimes Marui overlooks certain things or the use case is different than reality
Hopefully this won't be too annoying in the long run, having to spin the wheel back and forth. Thanks for the update
Hope so! If it continues to be annoying, I'll try and get it fixed during winter
Maybe a win win would be the bavtac 115% spring. It feels so sexy and might help the replica go back into battery.
Yay! Good now we can see a gameplay video!!! :D
Hope so!
I’m just happy for you that you’ve solved the issue! And I hope you enjoy the platform! 💪
Yeah I just called TM and they confirmed my suspicions were true.
I'm just glad it's working 😂 when you had issues out of the box my heart sank.

What did you upgrade? Should I loctite them? I don't plan on touching the nozzle. possibly only the recoil spring and the barrel/bucking

Never had this issue and yes ive used duster on mine, fully tightened and fully functional. I think there is a tolerance issue with yours.
Interesting 🧐 I will just have to keep using it and see but I’ll likely change out the spring
Glad u figured it out.. i was gonna snag one sometime soon and last video scared me a little haha
You and me both! Seems okay after confirming with Marui!
As an ingenieur i say this is still a constructive issue.
I don't know if it's possible to add spacers to stop overtightening
I’m not sure how that would affect performance

wont come lose, the screw actualy have some sort of bearing locking system and it clicks into place
My experience with master mount is that it works but the rail itself needs to be good or it’ll slip off
