1- 7 pound Epsom salt 1- 4 pound baking soda 1- 4 pound Borax or washing soda 2 grated bars of Castillo soap Optional: Add desired essential oils or Snuggle beads for scents Use distilled white vinegar instead of liquid fabric softeners You only need to use about 2 tablespoons of the laundry soap per load. I hope you enjoy making and using your own DIY soap! 💯🤗🎉
Thank you for showing how to make Laundry detergent. Loved the video.❤😊 Happy New Year to you Rachel an family.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊
Rachel, I just posted this to my FB page where there are a lot of preppers. I think this may have been the best tutorial I've ever seen. Thank you. David.
I’m always looking for more natural solutions for laundry - vinegar is a great idea! The soap itself is great for the same reason without all the harsh chemicals they put in store bought stuff. All brands! Even the most popular ones are the worst! 😱🤔
Rachel, I had made my laundry detergent for years. It is important that people have these skills. Times have changed for so many people and every little bit of knowledge helps. This would be a great idea for those living on the road, tiny living, etc. Thank you for being kind and sharing with us.
You're welcome! We love sharing our DIY tips! 🙌 I learn them from others and then share them, too! It's one of the coolest things I've learned in the last few years! Making our first batch of bar soap was so much fun, and it turned out great! Love it! Can't wait to make more things like shampoo, etc! 💯❤️
In the past few years I've always had a washer and dryer, but I have gone to the laundrymat for big items like huge thick comforters and big rugs and big pillows. Laundrymats cost huge amounts of money to wash and dry. Plus I think of how nasty some people are. Its always best to have your own laundry. Yours is awesome. You do a good job of taking care of your family on a tight budget. I see so many homesteaders going to the laundrymat...$$$ You are an awesome mom!
Aww, thanks for the kind words! 💯❤️ Laundromats are crazy expensive and a pain to haul all that laundry back and forth! Our tiny washer and dryer works great! They're perfect for our needs and power supply! 🤗🥰
This is one of the very best videos you have done. I mean I am so excited about this. I think for their birthdays I’m going to give each of my daughters a bucket with all of the bags of ingredients inside. If it wasn’t New Year’s Eve I’d be out there right now buying it all😂. Have a wonderful safe happy new year.
New Year’s Day, I celebrated it by going to Walmart and getting all the supplies and I have already made my first batch of soap😁One of my daughters is going to be doing it now too! Thank you so much Rachel
@Rebecca-q6w That's so awesome, Rebecca! I hope you and your daughters enjoy it as much as I do! It works great, is easy, and so much more affordable! 💯🥰🤗
Rachel, you have helped many of us today… Im going to make this Soap recipe too !!! I think I’ll try the unscented Epson salts… I have terrible allergies & that makes me sneeze 😆 Going to give this a Try, Thank You for Sharing with us… Never knew that about the Vinegar either !!! Thanks, Until the next one 😉💞🇺🇸
So glad you liked it! 😊 I usually use the unscented Epsom salt as well. I normally use lavender and lemon essential oils but was out. This is why I tried using the lavender Epsom salt this time. I understand sensitive allergies and why I love making my own soap! I find this soap perfect for that reason! 💯🎉
I have made that laundry soap dor years. Except i use felsnaptha soap. That's a cute dryer ❤ Wiley just made built a genius set up today. We have had the same problem. Its too cold amd wet to hang dry clothes.
I’ve tried Fels-Naptha, and it worked great, but I tried the castille, and I like the scent of the castille better, so I have just stuck with it. I want to try the Zote kind one day. I try new recipes every now and again. I had a feeling you probably already made your own because you crafty like that! ❤️ I have loved doing it because it lasts so long and so much more affordable for sure! Lylas! 🤗
HAPPY NEW YEAR...🎉🥳🤗I am going to try and make some of this thankyou rachel...your camper looks quite big inside the little machine and dryer fit nicely...😊😢
Wow. That's very interesting to make laundry soap. I already use vinegar in my own laundry. Plus vinegar is great for cleaning mirrors or windows. Much better than windex.
you could get one of them gamma lids at tsc for like 8 bucks that outer ring snaps on perm and then the center screws on with a gasket. just a thought. ya'll outta do a talking vid on overcoming injuries while on the homestead. i know sean had a heller run on this front and u with dual rotator cuff injuries in a year prolly sucked lol
I have one of those fancy lids on another bucket... need to get one for the laundry soap one! We will probably discuss some of that on our first live soon. Waiting on the mics to come in the mail first. 💯
I love this Rachel and thank you for sharing. Borax is banned in the EU and UK - the EU decided it was a bazardous chemical back in 2010 🤷♀️) but Ive fou d an alternative 🥳 2 questions....1) is it good at getting rid of stains like chocolate and spices? And 2) does the white vingar go in the compartment where you'd normally put fabric conditioner? (UK washing machines are front loading and the soap/fabric conditioner are in a pull out drawer, so its hard for me to know what that little compartment was where you put the vinegar)
Good to know! Thank you for the info! I normally use washing soda instead of Borax so you can substitute that. Yes, I put the vinegar in the rinse compartment that you would normally put fabric softeners. 💯🎉
1- 7 pound Epsom salt
1- 4 pound baking soda
1- 4 pound Borax or washing soda
2 grated bars of Castillo soap
Optional: Add desired essential oils or Snuggle beads for scents
Use distilled white vinegar instead of liquid fabric softeners
You only need to use about 2 tablespoons of the laundry soap per load.
I hope you enjoy making and using your own DIY soap! 💯🤗🎉

Good video something I have never seen, especially the washer and dryer!!
I might have to wash and dry smaller loads, but at least I don't have to run to a laundromat! Win! 😆🎉 I really like this homemade soap! 💯❤️
Vinegar is Great for sensitive skin too 50 years ago my daughter had sensitive skin and her pediatrician told me to use vinegar to rinse clothes.
I’m always looking for more natural solutions for laundry - vinegar is a great idea! The soap itself is great for the same reason without all the harsh chemicals they put in store bought stuff. All brands! Even the most popular ones are the worst! 😱🤔

Hi Lynn! 👋 Thanks! Hope you have a great day! 🤗
