      @@David-iv6je i just saw it yesterday and it was pretty enjoyable, obviously over the top but still a unique fun action movie with a cool concept. Plus it had symbolism and underlying themes about fate and stuff so its not just shlock like a lot of other action movies. I'm not going to act like it's high art but I'd say its a good movie.

    In case anyone's wondering the scene where he's in the store talking with Angeles jolie, that was shot in an actual store. It was called the egg store and it used to be in cermak plaza located in Berwyn Illinois. Well until they tore the place down for new stores and all. It Was really epic when they were shooting the scene but we could only see it from a distance because the whole area was sectioned off from spectators. Meh the more you know 🙂

    The damn loom gets worse the more you think about it. Here are the main things that bugged me about it
    1) That many errors in that small of a swatch of what appears to be linen means that is one crappy-ass loom.
    2) Supposedly, the fraternity is 1000 years old. Um...the concept of zero didn't come to the European consciousness until the 1600's, therefore binary couldn't possibly have been used since half of its existence relies on the very concept of zero.
    3) Continuing on the whole age problem, not only is it "binary code", oh no. They're using ASCII code, invented in 1960, based on the arbitrary 8-bit size of a byte and the English alphabet and punctuation.
    4) Continuing on the issue of the 1000-year-old code: J and U were not in the alphabet until the 1600's, either.
    5) Back to stuff that isn't just "history f* ups" That is one hugely wide, constantly-moving piece of cloth that he seems to always know exactly where to find his next little swatch of cloth, even if he hasn't been in there for hours.
    I love the movie, but the loom does drive me nuts.

And while I understand that filming it frame by frame would not have worked in this medium, for all sorts of reasons, I don't get why they actually ended up bastardizing the plot so much. In it's simplest form, it's a brilliant story to tell, but here they simply wrote themselves out of any logic, rhythm, or entertainment. Simply put: the movie eats butts.

    So weird to see Morgan Freeman say "Motherfucker" and get shot in the head in slow motion. What, didn't Samuel L Jackson have time that day? I guess he wasn't in every movie back then.

    The biggest problem with this movie is that the rights were bought up before the comic series ended and they completely screwed it up. If they had made a real wanted movie based on the comics it would have been amazing. He is the child of an evil villain in a world where the heroes have been defeated. It is so much better.

    I think "Blade of Kings" should be on your forgettable foreign action films list. Jackie Chan's nephew is the main character, and the man himself makes a small appearance. I find it easier to make it through the movie if I make it a drinking game. "Whenever there's a WTF moment, drink. When a friend leaves the room and can't finish the movie, finish your glass." I get drunk 10 minutes in, when all my friends leave. :(

  • @noirceur_
    @noirceur_ 7 років тому +180

    You normally get everything right, but where you were talking about the scene where Wesley and Fox are on the train going to assinate the guy at the head of the table in the conference room. You thought that when he doesn't pull the trigger on the "first" try they go back to the hideout and then Wesley is in the pool of wax. And then sometime later he goes back on the train and in his "second" attempt he curves the bullet and kills him. In reality what happened was in the "first" chance scene when Wesley didn't pull the trigger in the straight-on shot opportunity and then the scene flicks to him and Fox in the wax pool talking, THAT SCENE IS A FLASHBACK. They had that conversation in the wax pool prior to them riding the train to go kill his first target. When Fox's story is over and it flicks back to them on the train, that is the same time frame as before, the train had been moving for a little bit as he was recalling the story and therefore that is why he had to curve the bullet to kill the guy at the head of the table.
    I understand the director and editors didn't make that very apparent and I honestly didn't catch it until probably my 3rd viewing.

    My question with the scene at 16:00 has always been how does the other fraternity members know that those kill orders with their names on them are all authentic? Wesley told them that Sloan was making false kill orders. So Sloan could've easily made those kill orders to make them think their names really came up and he was protecting them. Their names may have never came up, just Sloan's.
