UK politics is a democracy in name only. Some really compelling arguments for how to improve and the examples of practical applications really helps to ground it in reality. Keep up the great work guys

I don’t see myself represented by any politician in Government. I voted Green and saw my vote get lost in the First Past the Post system again. I have contacted my local council about things I feel to be very important ( eg glyphosate spraying on grass verges, pavements near children and general members of the public sometimes on windy days with the sprayer wearing no protective mask at times and trees and hedges being chopped down all around our area) and I get no answer from them. We are pretty powerless. I hope the Massembly gives people a voice. It’s a good job you’re not walking and protesting as you would no doubt suffer as Roger Hallam and co have suffered. The odds are stacked against the common man. Keep at it

Democracy Is a government where the People vote directly on major issues. The People represent themselves. Elected officials are elected to implement the decisions the taxpayers make. They are public servants. In a Direct Democracy, We the People have the final word. We the People are in power.

Decentralizing the structure of power is essential, and it needs to happen from the local to the global level. We should not have to go somewhere, and sit on the grass to do it. We should be able to do it from our homes using existing information processing and communications technologies.

Have you taken a picture of the sun, as a memory, for on the mantelpiece, it will get cold, the sun will be blocked by war sigh, soot that is blown into the air. Nothing will grow for years

We can build a global digital platform for collective intelligence. The platform would have a conversational interface, and would merge the knowledge and sentiment expressed in millions of simultaneous conversations with people around the world.

It sounds good. The citizens' assembly model won't work over time as it's another representative approach to politics. People are cynical and distrust their political representatives because the individual is excluded from the process of coming to these decisions on policies that will materially impact their lives. What will happen is that political entrepreneurs will enter the marketplace of ideas and will generate real or imagined faults with the process. Take the government removing winter fuel support to older citizens. It might be the "right policy" for the government, but it instinctively feels wrong. If people had the option to vote using blockchain technology and were given 8-12 weeks of public debate and then the public made the decision, then there would be less criticism of the decision. Issues of real concern could require higher levels of voting, and those upset with the policy would have to be accommodated but crucially couldn't block the policy. Yes, it's happening in Spain, but what are policies that have changed? Plus, these policies have to include a taxable basic income on the rich and proper mass public housing with rent controls.
