I have a 19th century one without that crown. It's really impressive to see those 18th century babies alive and loved! Beautiful machine.

You can buy authentic reproductions as the original molds to n reproduce them still exist and they make them.

They are difficult to date. It could just as easily be 1840 as they were made for a very long time with very few changes.

hello sir, I have a problem with my 1750 comtoise clock ... my points got wrapped up and run all by themselves ..., I think it comes from the meeting wheel escapement which is loose ... it is a clock from 1750, with a bronze mechanism. can you help me to adjust it please? thank you

What does that mean "points"? We don't use that term in the USA.

    Why such a long pendulum?

Its a weight driven clock and the pendulum keeps it in time. If the pendulum was shorter the clock would run faster. The pendulum length is common among this type of clock, similar but not the same as a grandfather clock. Thank you.
