  • Hey guys.
    Here, I give you a basic lesson on the German language. Please don't rip me apart for mistakes. I took German for 6 years but haven't used it in 8 years so my basic understanding may be a bit off lol.

    You did a great job! German is an extremely difficult language and most Germans are not able to speak it properly. Moreover, your accent is adorable!

    I don't know how true this statement is...but when I took German in high school, my instructor told us when Kennedy gave his speech in Berlin. he said, ich bin ein
    'Berliner"
    A berliner is supposed to be a jelly doughnut. I'm sure people knew what he meant. maybe a different town dialect?

    • @MinecraftMick
      @MinecraftMick 10 років тому +2

      no I guess, they didn't know it because 'Berliner' in most cases mean 'a person who lives in Berlin' or 'a person who was born in Berlin' So most people 'misunderstood' him (because he said 'I am a person living in Berlin' (I think he wanted to express his compassion/ sympathy saing that Berlin would be his home so that he was on one level with the population of Berlin.) But I think, your teacher was just kidding...

      wrong wrong wrong wrong.
      The word Berliner is used to describe a person who comes from berlin but also is a word for a "Pfannkuchen" www.kadatz.de/bilder/produkte/pfannkuchen.jpg
      Funny fact ; Only Berliner call Berliner Berliner, in most parts its called Krapfen or Pfannkuchen.

    Very relaxing video , and nice to brush up on and learn some new language..Blessings and thank you..also you are a quite beautiful lady, lovely vibe and energy that brings it all alive..the fact you sup on tea also creates a very homely feeling, almost like a personal tutor..accept without being told off for dozing off into dream realms whilst at class :)

    two things: #1) your board is overexposed (it looks like one big reflector) and thus almost completely illegible; #2) you left out belgium from your list of countries (Belgium's languages: German, French and Dutch).

    dont see where is the problem of making mistakes in a language you dont master, it is the most normal thing in the world, each time i stay more than 2 years without using my native language i start to do mistakes, thats the healthy function of the brain to destroy what is not used in order to built new connections. Great video, thanks!

    As a Portuguese speaker I was wondering so much what was so confusing about the Y sound (it's pronounced the same way here). So I remembered it's kinda "why" in English, it was so weird haha.

    59:10 it's "das" Badezimmer, "die" is the feminine acrticle. You could say "Wo ist die Toilette", as "toilet" is a word taken from the French and feminine :)

      in addition "Ich bin ein Ausländer" (I'm a foreigner/alien) sounds rather formal to Germans. "Ich komme nicht aus Deutschland / Ich komme aus X" would be the expression more commonly used.
      Oh and I'm sorry in advance if I come across as nosy. You do a wonderful job and look absolutely stunning! Also I never realized Americans learned the German G as the "gay" letter^^
