One thing that struck me, in particular, is that they're *still* doing construction on the QEW. I had it much worse than you did, it seemed, and I came thru at 12:30 p.m. on a Wednesday. I wanted to film the whole thing, out to Hamilton, but gave up after spending 20 minutes, driving a mere 4 miles. Can't imagine how much worse it is, during peak rush hour.

Great video! What kind of camera did you film this on? I am thinking of getting a dashboard camera and I like the quality of your work! Thanks!

@FreewayBrent The construction in this video is the addition of HOV lanes. I believe they are being added in Oakville and Burlington. But they still won't resolve all of the congestion on that section. I've read that HOV lanes are supposed to be added through Mississauga but I can't figure out how it can be done with the right of way being so narrow.
The QEW is considered to be Canada's first freeway although it wasn't completely limited access from the beginning.

@FreewayBrent Also note at 0:20 the South Korean flag on the car ahead! You mentioned somewhere that some of your heritage is from there.
Just some other info: QEW stands for Queen Elizabeth Way. It was not named after the current monarch Queen Elizabeth II. It was named in 1939 after her mother who had the same first name and was affectionately known as "The Queen Mother" and who was married to King George VI. She died in 2002.

great video - I have the same handycam, and was wondering if you shot it at regular speed and used the editing software to do the time lapse, or is there a setting that I haven't found yet to shoot time lapse.

@129bill Thanks. I shot the video at a regular speed and sped it up in software. The time-lapse function usually shoots a series of pictures at regular intervals, which creates a somewhat different effect.

@greymilton Thanks! I used the Sony HDR-CX300 to shoot this video (you can find this information in the video's description). This is not a dashboard camera though - it is a regular handheld HD camera with a wide-angle lens. I used a few strips of Velcro to fix the camera to the dashboard.

@Sazee1000 It certainly can and does go above 27 degrees in Toronto in the summer, but how much above and how frequently changes somewhat from year to year. I'm sure that you can look those statistics up. This past summer was very hot, and on some days the temperature reached 37 degrees (almost 100 F). The winters are quite cold though, and are quite long. Good luck with your ambitions to become a teacher.

Infrastructure in the GTA is an abomination. Too many people as well, especially housewives chatting on cell phones while driving around in their SUVs searching for the perfect latte. Cool video, though!
