My first red block has 900 dollar Continental tires that were barely used and then I learned the hard way to not drive more than you need to without having your alignment done!! I almost cried when I saw what looked like a cheese grater had been taken to my front tires. Paid 1750 for the car that had at least $5,000 worth of work and parts put on it, to then ruin the feature that was such a sweet part of the deal, when I found out what the tires were worth in their condition. Going to switch the back tires to the front once I get the alignment done. Go straight to the alignment shop when you do any of that stuff up front like tie rods for instance.
In the 80s I bought an 1800 for $150. Of course it did not run and the right front fender and part of the grill was crumpled. Turns out the fiber plastic cam gear was trashed. A quick replacing of same and it started right up. Cost then about $22.00...lol. The fender was cut off with part of the grill, then cut into 7 pieces and hand hammered out and welded back together.. Used less than 1 qt of filler with much of that ending on the ground. Changed from a white to a deep red. Drove it for 2 years. Then sold it.
I did some numerating for fun. That’s about 1/25 of the original sale price. Given its condition, If you had that car today, it might sell for 10,000. 1/25 of that is $320. For $320 you can buy one piece of an 1800 today. Just maybe not the piece you want
@@DavidBello They are lovely cars, but not for me. One thing I can't get into is the driving position. Literally. That low profile means that your legs are fairly forward, like a racing car more or less. I'm kinda rotund, with short legs, so I'm destined to be a sedan/wagon kinda guy.
They even had a toy based on the 1927 Volvo, with the wooden spokes, you could get them through the Volvo dealer, also I remember seeing a crash test done to a 740 ,performed in the parking of one of the malls, where it was crashed against a cement barrier, to show how strong, the car is really, this they had brought it from Sweden, ah the good times

Thank you for sharing these videos. I couldn’t make it to the meet so this is the next best thing.
Really like the International Travelall shown behind the P1800 at 09:15
Great to meet you, David. I feel honored that my car is considered one of your favorite wagons 🙂
Likewise! It was nice to chat 😊
This is my first time to see the VCOA, even though I have driven Volvos my whole life.
Yes we will be louder about promoting the event next year so many more will attend! And I’m glad to show in videos.
My new favorite Volvo video. Great job David. I would take anyone of these beauties.
I LOVE my C30 T5 !
I just wonder what would everyone think of all the different Volvos, on the road some have there own personalized version .
i think you have some day come here to sweden ... there are volvos everywhere :-)
I had a 1981 265 waqon 30 yrs ago & a 73 164 (red)..,I didnt realize they were so rare....
The wood steering on the white 245 was mine before! It is a “personal” steering, made it in Italy.
I have others🙆🏼♂️

@@robertbandusky9565 the one who I’ve sold had the adapter for 140/160 series.

That would be awesome
Does Volvo still have the Volvo, the tower. It would be awesome if they brought

There was a miniature version at the auction that was made from toy cars
@@DavidBello I know there was some toys based on the Volvo 144 tower, also the 240, 740/
