That Pelikan nib is impressive. Wonderful shade of red; perfect for illustrating crime scenes.
A very good presentation as usual and thank you. RS. Canada.
That’s a gorgeous RED! I’ve never used up a bottle of ink and I’ve been using fountain pens for 35 years. I also have over 200 bottles of ink and 300 sample vials so….ha ha ha!
Get to slinging that ink around! :D
@@gourmetpens oh, yeah!! That is fun fer sure!!!! 🙏🏻👍😁
Another GREAT video, however please, please do a alternate to MB Corn Poppy Red video. I’m down to the last bit of my bottle and no one has the Corn Poopy for sale. I LOVE the Corn Poppy and so far have not seen anything that is not too pink or brown and so on. There is nothing like the perfect RED of the Corn Poppy!!!!
Try their Year of the Tiger limited edition for 2022. Almost like the corn poppy and behaves like it on quite a few types of paper.
I have a bottle of MB corn poppy and it’s a gorgeous red!
Aauugghhhh!!! Why did I watch this?! I have an anti-Montblanc thing, especially given the only ink I've ever had that went bad--like chunks of mould bad--was Montblanc. But I love this red!!!
O, what to do...
I believe PenBBS uses the Bock system whereas this is JoWo so I don't think it'll fit without some sort of adapter. Flexible Nib Factory might have something!
I think I’ve finished 6 bottles in 12 months. I just finished MB Lapis Lazuli which was lovely. I’m working on a bottle of corn poppy right now!
I’m jealous….. cause accidentally dropping 93% of an ink doesn’t count
bloody red indeed! i like it, thank you
your Videos are fantastic, and the inky ones i like most. Thats because I LOVE inks more than pens and i really like your handwriting
Thank you! So glad you enjoy :)
Uau! Wonderful handwriting.
Glad I ordered one!
Thanks for the review. I like this red. I am willing to pay a bit more for Montblanc because I would not be worried about it ruining my pens...
Happy Friday 🥳
I agree, a pretty and useful red. Do you know another similar ink - perhaps a Diamine?
I have so few Diamine reds! I'm thinking maybe Red Dragon?
I am so with on Corn Poppy Red, bought this in the hope that it comes close.
Hi David, could you please tell me how this scarlet red compares to mb corn poppy red?.
@@chayatom1837 Hi, I'm afarid I haven't compared them yet, too many otehr tempting inks! I will try them both over the weekend and let you know.
@@chayatom1837 I finally got around to trying both inks side by side. They are quite different reds, the Corn Poppy Red more vibrant deep red, the Scarlet Red with hues of orange and brown. I still prefer the Corn Poppy Red by some margin.
Nice red ink, great review!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you so much for doing this review! I've been really considering getting this ink, but was debating because of the price. I totally love it, and I super appreciate your review. You've decided me, I'm off to go buy it.
Since corn poppy red isn’t made anymore you should treat it like wine……. Using it ever so sparingly….
Lovely platinum you have there!
I like it better in the fine/EF writing sample.
Once you washed it with water I thought it looked like spilled tomato soup. So now all I can think of is, MontBlanc’s ‘Can of Tomato Soup’ Red.
Wouldn’t you agree the standard for testing any ink for their color value is with a EF & F nib? For color sake….
Saturation: MED and above….
@@simeonking2910 I think (hard to believe some days) that you should test an ink in every nib size you’ve got for color consistency. I would like to believe, even though I know it’s not true, a well made ink should have consistency in the usual range of fountain pen nibs. I tend to write with fine and medium nib pens.
@@damutoob true. I asked because as you notice with an EF nib gives a lighter presentation than those of the mediums and broad nibs….
@@simeonking2910 perhaps my old eyes are deceiving me on the color, but I still prefer the blue/red color from of the EF nib Azizah is using than the true red color the ink becomes when used in the course. One of the reasons I haven't bought bottles of a red ink in 25 years, other than some Diamine reds that came in 6 bottle multi paks, is that reds were always disappointing. I still have most of a bottle of Omas red. The old Pilot/Namiki red I gave away long long ago, it was an orange red. I was not a fan...
@@damutoob ahhgh pilot red is orange/red???….aww…. I was hoping to use it as my standard red. That’s disappointing.
And you have omas red!?… LUCKY!!!!!
Thanks for the review, Aziza. I prefer these bottles to the shoe bottles and the ultra modern madly expensive ones. Attracted by the retro writing on the box. What I'm really looking for is what I think of as a genuine classic Venetian Red. This isn't quite it. Perhaps I should have got the Shakespeare when I had the chance.
Beautiful ink. Looks very saturated. I may buy a bottle despite the confiscatory price. Amazed as always with your handwriting.
It is striking me a lot Noodlers Antietam. How it dries up looking slightly brownish like dried blood. Years ago I was on a Sherlock Holmes kick and read all the stories and novels. Scarlet Red is ok, but really should have called it a Studyif Scarlet. The novel is in the public domain now, so shouldn’t be an issue, but even could be a tribute to ACD’s A Study in Scarlet.
I might get a bottle next time I’m shopping for ink, for the Doyle reference more than the color.
I should imagine copyright wouldn’t be an issue anyway with the Mont Blanc Arthur Doyle pen. I agree with your name recommendation
Diamine; Red Dragon is a beautiful red. A true red….
i really like diamine‘s wild strawberry, have you tried it?
Oooh I haven't tried it but the name already makes it appealing to me!
Yes that’s the red I have as well
It’s great! I’d didn’t notice it was a bit pink till I discovered tomatoe rive paper
My sure they may have created it : Montblanc Pmegranate red
A good alternate to MB Corn Poppy Red is Skrips Red...equally well loved and well behaved.
I disagree! Strips red isn’t nearly as wet or vibrant.
Oh hello, sexy red! 😍
For how long can a Montblanc ink in the bottle can last once is opened? I have like 3 and planning to buy another one, but if they go bad after a few months that will make them very expensive because I can use only a fraction of a bottle. (I have to write like 500 pages per bottle, in my case unrealistic)
It's this ink really permanent?
Do you ever sell any of your inks?
I don't sell inks from my personal collection because it's not really worth the shipping costs for buyers
What Pelikan did you use? My M800 doesn't flex
This is a vintage nib - I got it at a pen show. It's on an M400 body
@@gourmetpens It won't fit my M800. Pity. Thanks for the information.
On another subject. I saw the Franklin-Christoff ef flex nib. Would you know if it would fit a penBBS?
It should be more water resistant ..I do not want to lose what I write with it. Poor water resistance is very ngativ to me even if I like the color.
Looks like blood
