The thing here about his point is that not everybody has the money to get a big valve amp (I can't afford it now), so you have to use what you have. Obviously, when it comes to recording, it's one thing. The more organic the tone is, the better you will sound. But, on the other hand, Kempers or guitar modeling pedalboards are easy to transport and use. And if you really dig into these devices, you can get a really good tone, at least until you get a good amp. So, the choice is yours.
The fact that they didn't write the vocals or the instruments together really shows in these interviews. Not much interplay. Still love the album though. You can tell they're both very good songcreators, on this album you can really tell the difference between the different songs and who created them.
Mark is very Type A personality. He's said in early interviews that he has OCD. Myles is very laid back, go with the flow type of guy. I guess that's why they work so well together. They balance each other out.
GREAT hearing about the recording process of the album! Elvis is a true legend, I love all his work from Alter Bridge to Slash and Tremonti. Tho I must say this Alter Bridge record doesn't match Fortress or ABIII sonically, this has a different and more compressed sound
MK the last hero was compressed to shit as well tbh they need to chuck elvis or at least don’t let him near the board, they’ve lost that great sound they hd years ago everything is squashed to the max now, i feel its all down to Elvis’s preferences
Since The Last Hero came out Elvis has been getting so much shit. I feel like people are confusing different approaches at creating a soundscape (by the band themselves) for different/bad production.
I have the utmost respect for Elvis as a producer and the work he's done with all of the bands in the AB camp but I really do feel like it would serve them well to work with someone else the next time around. I just think getting some fresh ears on their music might help the creative process a bit. Although, I am liking the 5 songs from Walk The Sky more than I liked anything from The Last Hero.
He sounds like a great guy and he for sure has done some great stuff with AB. This new album restored my faith in his work. Still, it would be good to get new blood.... I would love to see them go off and write And record a record LIVE. use the first takes. Kind of in the moment, spontaneous, raw record. Their “In Utero” or “Presence”
Burn Halfmetal I agree. I also think he wants to make sure the fans get an authentic live performance. He seems very concerned about digitizing any part of their live show.
I think that Eng subs are pretty accurate. From min 5:48 "...my setup is my MT 15 PRS amplifier through a four by twelve finished 30 cabinet and then I also use fender twelve for clean and then some of the clean stuff and then a Cornford arc a 100 is a another amp that i use in the studio..." I don't play a guitar and so i don't know if the above make sense or not :D
Myles and Mark make it sound like Elvis is the best human being in the whole freaking world. And judging by the sound of “Walk the Sky”, that’s probably not far from the truth.
starling fowler most of the synth stuff was marks idea. He said in other interviews he would normally listen to drum tracks for Inspiration for guitar parts but this album was synth tracks instead. More I understood that he wanted to be able to replicate the songs when played live and to let the synth parts have there place in the songs where they shined most but not drown the album in them
@@robertlyons8154 I don't know if you are being sarcastic :) But Myles and the rest of the band are so blind! No one can say "he's so good" to a production like most of their albums. I'm not an audiophile but the sound of their new record is bad, is messy, is exhausting to hear, similar to the The Last Hero. ABIII is not good either and even Blackbird could be better. ODR is their best album production wise, which is the one doesn't have Elvis on the mixing board.
The elvis has ruined the alter bridge sound for me the best production was on one day remains, blackbird wasn’t quite as good but godlike compared to what were hearing now they need a new producer the sound less and less real every album everything sounds squashed

Two of the finest human beings/musicians ever to exist right here!!
Amen
"A.I. is writing pop songs now and you can't tell the damn difference" - Mark Tremonti
Mark is the coolest man I've ever seen
I could watch these guys for hours. Just fascinating!
That synth pedal he's talking about is the Electro-Harmonix Mel9. They're tour manager Tim, confirmed it. Awesome sounding pedal.
I agree with Mark,I prefer amps too,TRUE ORGANIC TONE 🤘

Is Alter Bridge that good? YES! They are!!!
GENIAL !!
Maybe it's because Myles is so laid back, but Mark always seems up-tight.

Alter Bridge turning into Opeth. lol

I think they need a producer like Brendan O’Brien or Nick DiDia
nah man, in terms of production The Last Hero wasn't that good... This album is sounding a little better.

You can tell that Mark is salty about the cab sim 😅

Tubes all the way... artificial kemper, Axe fx, helix,..etc is faking the real tone,
Totally agree with Mark
I'm from Spain and I don't understand all the interview. Can someone tell me what Mark says at 5:52 then Mark says four by twelve. Thanks

The guitar synth seems to be a sore subject and all of the production. Mark gives of the vibe like this isn’t his favorite album. Maybe?

Mark said this album is some of AB's best work. I think he just wants to make sure the synth stuff is used tactfully and won't overpower the songs.
Yeah you nailed it. If there was an uncomfortable moment... that was aaawkard. haha
Ditch skillet
Maybe Elvis gives them unmastered mix to approve and then someone fucks it up during mastering? Sound of TLH and WtS is beyond awful.
hahaha mark casually drinking around 4:55
I was very entertained by him pouring the water into the glass LOLOL 4:42
🤔🤔??
"He's so good at it" (about Elvis doing the mix). Damn Myles, now I know, you and the other members have bad taste in soundmixing. Just get new ears!
Sjey Yup, it sounds straight up bad.
I’m not sure I understand

Yeah, somehow to me the solo guitars are kinda of muffled. I thought I was crazy.
