I remember playing the HELL out of the Army Men games, specifically RTS and Sarge's Heroes, but the others as well. They had this sort of campy charm to them that kept bringing me back. RTS was especially fun for me as I was that kid who loved playing with the little green and tan dudes in my playscapes I made for them to "fight" on with my extensive Lego collection, and RTS basically took that concept and said, 'here's what happens when you're not looking'. Another game that was strangely comedic and camp was another real time strategy game called Conflict Zone. A semi-serious, satirical laugh factory (with one hell of an opening cinematic) that finds a totally not the U.N. against a shadowy, underhanded, totally not Russia, in a war fought not just with guns and well coordinated strategic maneuvers, but conveniently placed news cameras and a healthy dose of totally voluntary indoctrination :]
I remember playing Army Men: Air Attack a lot as a kid, it was actually one of the first two video games me and my brothers ever owned for the PS1. We ended up getting the rest of the Army Men games on consoles, and even though I enjoy them all, the first Air Attack is still probably my favorite out of all of them. I remember thinking how weird it was getting Army Men 3D (the PS1 port of the original Army Men) and then playing the four World War games, and thinking how weird it was that 3D, Air Attack, Sarge's Heroes and RTS were all pretty distinct games, and yet the World War games were all pretty much identical (and unforgiving as hell). As an adult I really came to enjoy World War: Team Assault though, because it seemed the most tactical out of the console Army Men games. Instead of one "Sarge," you had a team of commandos with different specialties you had to balance, like using TNT or speaking the Tan language. Plus the whole campaign was built on stopping the Tan from launching V2 missiles, whereas most of the other games simply had you fight the Tan over the course of multiple missions until you finally completed the campaign. I also remember it seemed like there were two distinct universes going on within Army Men, even though the games never acknowledged it. Like the original Army Men, Army Men 2, Toys in Space, 3D and the World War games seem to take place in a pretty consistent, WWII-themed world. Then you have the Air Attack games, Sarge's Heroes games, Green Rogue and RTS that took place in a much brighter, more Pixar-styled universe where things like the Portals were being discovered for the first time. I really enjoyed those particular games though, since the cutscenes were very entertaining and Jim Cummings basically voices all the male characters in every game with the exception of the first Air Attack. I wish my PS1 still worked, because I'd definitely be replaying Air Attack and World War: Team Assault right now. Great video!
im sure you could get the war chest discs to work through a virtual machine. But I found it easier, buying the game through steam where they run on DOSbox. there are a few of the original army men games there for pretty cheap.

I'm not familiar with conflict zone, I'll have to check it out
Yup, for me it was Sarge's Heroes, RTS, and Air Attack series. Then a little bit of the gameboy games.

I'm so happy to see so many people return to these games!
I remember playing the heck out of the demo for this game as a kid.
It's amazing love this game style
I was a child so perhaps that's why I struggled so much but I thought these games were difficult as hell.
We need a new army men game for the ps5 and pc. Perhaps an open world first person shooter with the ability to construct bases in strategic areas
2:20 i did not expect to hear the name marx and capitalism
Please play Army Men 3D or Team assault!
Oh yeah I remember this!😊
