the more entertaining, viewer-friendly matchup would be against Minnesota; the offensive fire power between the two squads is fairly even, if not slightly tilted towards NY... NY versus Connecticut would be entertaining too, but CT wins when their defense is turned up a notch & is more physical, which may turn off some viewers.
Pretty sure the viewership fell off a while ago when the Fever got knocked out.
This happens in every league though. If the matchup isn't that exciting or the fanbase is small, viewership suffers. See the 2023 world series.
It has.... but they still came close to one million.
I am just SHOCKED by the Sun getting 880,000 views. Their numbers went up
Who will face the Liberty could all be dependent on One Sun's Player. Marina. It really didn't matter in Game Four since all the Suns Starters were shooting out of their minds including from 3s. Marina didn't start in Game Four. The Bench shot 2/7 from 3s while the starters shot 6/8 from 3s. The Suns have been an outstanding defensive team, all year LONG. But sometimes the Best Defense is a Good Offense.
We don’t care, Saleh got fired
What's a Liberty
What we have been losing for decades in America.
Go read the Declaratiin of Independence.
Independence is a synonym for liberty

Stop the hip hop stuff. I'm tired of these shows trying to be "cool"
Talk to us about the viewership decline since Caitlin Clarks’s been out
@@ZeldonSinghIsFly27.who is we ? lol silly mf the views are down you still watching not everybody else 😂
aren't you Can'twin Clank cult followers supposed to be at your other cult leader's rally? 🙄
They aren't talking about it because there's nothing newsworthy there. CC is one of the most popular athletes around. She's probably a bigger household name than most current MLB and NFL stars. She's not playing so some fans of hers aren't watching.
The 1993 NBA Finals averaged a rating of 17.9. This was Jordan's last season before playing minor league baseball. The 1994 NBA Finals averaged a rating of 12.2. No Jordan meant lower ratings. It happens. Next season the Fever ought to make the semis, maybe even the Finals. CC's game should only get better.
I think Mabrey's gonna 'launch' them to the Finals (especially coming off the bench now that Harris is healthy) in game 5 on the road, time for the ☀️ to rise and 🔥 bright, then AT DB and the rest of them won't be denied by the🗽
🏀🫀💪🏽👍🏼🤯 (🫶🏼 for the W)
No one cares since Caitlin Clark is out
WHO will face the Liberty in the WNBA Finals??
I would be more concerned about WHO will be watching the Liberty play the winner of today's game, the question is in my view and it is a big why, is the WNBA Playoff Ratings not crushing the TV views and attendance?
....
In 2024 WNBA Play Offs averaged 10,092 Per Game in 16 Games an increase of 745 per Game over 2023.
....
In 2024 WNBA has a Total of 161,468 in 16 Games, and there are remaining games.
...
In 2024 WNBA for regular season games averaged 1,190,000 viewers on ESPN platforms.
In the 2024 WNBA Playoffs, exclusive of Fever Games, there has not been one 1,000,000-plus viewed Game. The two fever games, 1,800,000 and 2,500,000 will push up the 2024 Average views,

In 2023 WNBA Play Offs averaged 9,347 Per game in 20 Games. 745 fewer per game than in 2024

In 2023 WNBA Total of 186,932 attendance in 20 Games
Looked at the ESPN Press Room for WNBA & Basketball, but nothing for Game 4.
.....
Game 1 Liberty/Aces 929,000 14,015 fans,
Game 1 Sun/Lynx 650,000 8,500 fans.
Game 2 Aces/Liberty 969,000 14,321 fans,
Game 2 Sun/Lynx 668,000 8,506 fans
Game 3 Aces/Liberty 990,000 10,369 fans
Game 3 Sun/Lynx 890,000 8,268 fans
Game 4 Aces/NY 000,000 10,374 fans
Game 4 Sun/Lynx 000,000 8,268 fans
Total Views 5,096,000 (849,333 average)
I appreciate the homework but the drop off in playoff attendance can be attributed to the fact that the Aces and Liberty faced each other in the finals. The Sun fanbase is simply not on their level (location, location, location).
I will be watching the WNBA finals and so will many others. Will it match 2023 numbers? Hard to know for certain but keep your baby when you throw out the bathwater.
2024 was a tremendous season for the W and 2025 can only get better. CC, Reese, and the '24 rookies should only get better and then there's a whole new rookie class to check out. It would not surprise me to see the Fever in the semis next year, maybe even the finals. Ain't nothing wrong about that.

Thank you for the reply. well thought out and presented.
No drop-off in attendance, 2023 is 20 games.
In 2024 161,468 in 16 Games, and there are remaining games, so the numbers average attendance, Total attendance, average views and total views can all move up.
My beef is how ESPN and the WNBA are looking back at Stats from the post-COVID-19 RECOVERY YEARS as the base and passing it off as "growth"
The reality is that the WNBA still has not returned to pre-COVID-19 years - close but still not there.
The year is not over, but the playoffs can end up with lower numbers than the regular season 2024 - which hopefully was not a one-off, and will be the numbers going forward.
Regards.
No one cares this lead is a joke
Nobody in the state of New York or any other place would consider a New York WNBA championship to be the first since 1973… Nobody views it that way
CASUAL IT'S THE FIRST!
I know basketball is big there but Elle is talking like the state hasn’t had a champion in anything since then. There’s been multiple MLB, NFL, NHL, and NCAA teams in New York that have won since the 70’s.
Disagree. While most New York basketball fans may not consider it, there's a growing fanbase of basketball "purists" who appreciate the game and how the women play it.
Also, the basketball championship drought in NY has been too long to split hairs.
