  • Dalí once said: “Si muero, no muero por todo,” or “If I die, I won’t completely die.” Thirty years after his death, his words take on a new meaning at The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. "Dalí Lives" uses artificial intelligence to let visitors experience his bigger-than-life personality in an up close and personal way.
Dalí Lives - Art Meets Artificial Intelligence.
Debuts May 11, 2019 exclusively at The Dalí Museum.
Song: Insight XXX by Julien Marchal (Sacem/France), from Album: Insight III.

So... what part of this video or its content has something to do with AI? Sorry, but as someone who has seen Salvador Dali and hear him speak and act and read about him I am not inclined to find this emulation convincing. He had different manerisms and self-expression, I mean, he was too excentric. The voice was also not like Dali's. I am puzzled.

Question: what part of this video or its content has something to do with AI?
Answer: A technique known as "Deepfake", created through the utilization of "Deep Learning Neural Networks", a sector of Artificial Intelligence where a neural network is constructed through layers of neurons and then given material to learn from, is what was utilized to create this video. The individual's face in question was re-created with the assistance of AI which learnt how to re-create his face from many different angles, by "learning" using the "deep" algorithms.

@@joshuacadebarber8992 I hope you are not an AI entity yourself :D, as if you weren't, you would have to understand the spirit of my question was a bit sarcastic. ;)
It doesn't look or sound like Dali - perhaps only AI would consider this demonstration a successful emulation of once live person. Something important is missing, something AI can never understand.
You see, the human cognitive aparatus is very complex and not based on algorithms. You can't mimic a non-algorithmic system with algorithm-based computational, albeit self-learning system. That thing is painfully obvious.

Not a problem at all! I have ASD so I often find sarcasm especially hard to pick up, and this being online, with the only medium being text with no audial or visual queues makes it especially challenging! My apologies :D
I agree that AI can't fully comprehend even a small section of what we do, however, our brain actually does (at least to some quantifiable extents) work algorithmic-ally, self evident in our ability to create algorithms, but one may simply do some research into "computer vision" to understand that, to quite a wide extent, our brain's ability to compute information and create connections between the received information and the already stored information inside of our biological processing unit.
Furthermore, pattern recognition is a cognitive process. The very ability to identify that "McDonalds" is the fast food chain, and isn't simply a visual form of nonsensical, non-informational input, requires steps, processes, and thus, is algorithmic in nature.
Algorithm: "a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations"
1: Brain receives input from optical sensory organ.
2: Brain begins interpreting information, flips received image.
3: Brain evaluates what the image is.
3.1: Brain uses pre-existing database of information to assess meaning of image.
3.2: Brain then creates new synaptic connections to correlate and store the information.
      .... etc.

Oh, no, it totally is him. But Jesus and his parents have been scolding him about that wanking up in Heaven for the last few decades, and now he's become self-conscious about it.
