My recent purchases: Amberlough, The Bee Sting, The Carlyle's at Home, A Room with a View, Savage Detectives, Ilustrado, Monsoon Mansion, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power, I, Claudius, and The Song of the Jade Lily.
I have Confessions on my night table and am so eager to get to it. It sounds really good. I read A Far Cry from Kensington a number of years ago and liked it very much. I have also never read Elizabeth Jenkins but now am quite keen to read The Tortoise and the Hare. And I also just picked up a copy of In All Weathers after I read an essay by Matt Gaw and liked his writing style so much. Books are definitely a balm to the spirit this month!
I actually just finished Strange Pictures today and had never heard of the author either! It was really unique, creepy, and enjoyable. Can't wait to read Strange House eventually!
I'm really looking forward to reading Confessions, I put in a request at my library for it and they are buying this one, and also Nesting by Roisin O Donnell which sounds really wonderful ( released end of January) 😊
I’m currently listening to Shy Creatures The House of Broken Bricks A History of Sound Feel sure they’ll be on long l as ist for Womens Prize/ Booker. Have you read them? What do you think?
Loved Shy Creatures and made a video on it. House of Broken Bricks is also great but it came out a year ago so wouldn’t be eligible for this year’s prizes.
As for queerness on American tv it's been my opinion for a while the Mary Richards on the MTM show was about a closeted lesbian, while The Odd Couple documented the funny lives of two men living on the edge openly gay. Of course that's only my opinion.
The only problem with watching other book tuber channels is that it increases the tbr. So many books and so little time.

Nice reviews. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for this Eric. Always good to hear of new releases.
😊📚
Great haul Eric, I love the new Virago book covers!
Thanks, me too! 😊📚
Another good video. But when you review "In Judgement of Others" we have to see a pic of you in your High School play!
The History of Sound is now a movie ( or being made as we speak) - can’t wait to read
So many great books! I read City of Night Birds and loved it.
That’s great to hear!

Loved the Bee Sting! Currently half way through skippy dies by the same author, also enjoying it too much!
That’s a great haul! 📚

It is very dark and greh and awfully gloomy here😔as well...But we have books😊
Would like to know more about the short stories of Yukio Mishima...book review perhaps once you finish 🙂
I'm intrigued by the Uketsu book
Yeah, it seems like such a unique way of presenting a mystery (or multiple mysteries)
Tortoise And The Hare went straight to the TBR…. My “ middle - aged” arse is biased 😂 📖🪱💚
😄 Hope you enjoy the book!
I’m currently listening to

The most shocking thing about Primo Levi's life is that eventhough he survived Auswitz he commited suicide afterwards .

I loved the Edges! But your pronunciation of Tijssens needs a lot of work 😄
Just dont waste too much time with AI written books, which is always a risk with new published books
