      ahh yes i remember. mine was exterior too. no biggie. in the winter just carry around water inside the van, winterize the fresh water system and flush with rv antifreeze. that’s what i did and it worked pretty well. yea it’s a bit more convenient having the fresh water tank inside but don’t let it stop you from winter camping!

    Pretty good job Neal, my drain hose is a Rhino that holds it's length when stretched or compressed but I don't think it would fit in the hose holder your van has, I would have pulled a bit further forward to take the stretch out of you hose, I would use a rock or a couple to hold the hose into the campsite drain, yes, blackwater first then I leave the valve open and go inside and pour a couple of buckets of water down the toilet while holding the valve open, puts clean water into the tank and helps flush it.
    Then the same with the gray water tank, then close your valves as you have and proceed with the storage of things.
    I put 3 to 5gal of fresh water into the black tank to help the bio action of the waste, believe me it helps.
    I give at least 24hrs for the paper to be digested by the bio action of the natural enzymes to help dissolve it, the poop paper of the 24hr period goes into a bag that gets dumped in the trash the next day.
    For the natural enzymes to work you need both poop and pee in the tank otherwise they don't do their job well, also when adding a chemical to the tank use the designated amount, more isn't better.
    Unique makes a pretty good product both for daily and year end treatment.
    At any campground faucet I clean & disinfect it before hooking my fresh water hose to it because you don't know how they used t before you got there, plus I use a filter inline before it goes into my tank.

    Hi Neil, I love how you actually show us what is involved when empty the black tank and how to use gray tank to flash and clean it so far some of the RV reviews they just kinda glazed over the tanks and didn't really explain how to do it, but you showed Us on how to fill out the water tank and it's same details, I am just starting looking at RV for a different reason, I am kinda looking at it as some types of backups home in case of emergency weather situations like the video you did about high gas bill, so you move into the RV to stay warm and with the class b it's easy to get around small city streets and parking spots, on the Black tank I saw some one suggestion was put in some micro in there to break down solid stuff and been New at this I don't know if it's a good idea or not, the cassette style it seems more convenient,at least some like it I just need to take it out and can empty it in a toilet and that seems it can be done every where 🤣 and now I am trying go through all your video on your channel you have lots of good information on RV which is what I am looking for before I put down the money and probably with a long term loan and I don't want to regret after couple year and find out the whole thing is falling apart 😱😱😭 and I really appreciate your video they helped me a lot on RV, unlike some other reviewers just tell what is in the RV and nothing else especially the electrical systems and what a RV power needs with the AC on and microwave on almost like in a home and those are all new to me, because I have not considered when I was at home I just used both of them at the same time plus all the phone and computer are plugged in and the home doesn't seem have problems to provide power to all the electrical stuff in the home until I get the electrical bill 😱🤣🤔 or during summer heatwave and power company tell us don't use AC or appliances that draw heavy power from power grid from four to nine PM and that is when temperature are at it's hotest and with people coming home from work and school stay in RV with AC on until temperature cool down some than move back to the house and turn everything on to use those like they were designed to do,😱🤔🤣😜😂

    Hello Neal, the problem I have with gravity dumps is sometimes the drains are not that much lower then the tanks on the van in fact I dumped at a state park last fall where I had to go up over a curb causing me to keep lifting the drain hose to make sure it emptied. The challenge with dumping is you have to get on your knees which gets harder as you get older along with the fact the ground might be a muddy mess. I keep a small rubber mat I roll out. Lastly, I think the ultimate would be a system that would allow a toilet to have a standard black tank but also a cassette that you could bypass to empty when you can't find a dump station. Take care!

    • @Ultramobility
      @Ultramobility  Рік тому +1

      that’s an interesting idea. for my part i gladly deal with the black tank because it’s really a rather minor nuisance compared to all the benefits i enjoy with a campervan. but trust me i get it 😝

      Hi Neal
      Thank you again for the informative video. I would like to suggest you, when you fill your water tank go at the control panel to close your water pump, and at the same time press two time on the water button you will have the quantity of water that is left in your water tank. Than you can go to open the water valve and check from the exterior through the window the level of your tank. When it is at 95 % you shut off the water valve. You do not have to be at the back of the van to see how much water you are at.

      Also I just watched a video that had an adaptor for a cassette that would allow it to be easily dumped at a dump station which basically means I feel I could end up with either or and no more fears. Because of knee issues, I keep leaning toward the Ekko because of their centralized water/tank system but still doing my research.

    One comment, you only need to use the pressure reducer when using the fresh water connected to city water with the valve to fill the tank closed. When filling the tank the overflow hose will prevent any pressure from building up. We only fill the tank and never attach during a stay, so don’t use the reducer most of the time. Tank fills faster. Also I agree with the comment to flush the fresh water hose for a while before connecting to the water inlet. Lots of people use a filter between the water source and the van inlet too. Great video! Thanks for introducing us to the Panoramic which we have owned for 18 months now. 😊

    • @Ultramobility
      @Ultramobility  Рік тому

      Donald that is a great point about the pressure reducer. One doesn’t need to use it if you’re simply filling the tank, only if you’re connecting up to city water. Thanks for the tip and glad that I helped you in your RV journey!

    From a gross disastrous mistake, where connection was missing a piece, I always open the grey valve for a second to make sure the seal is correct, then I close it, drain black then grey.

The Thor Riser short wheel base seems to match my life style the best. Using it as a daily driver saves me in insurance, maintenance, and storage expenses. The Winnebago pocket a little too plain for me . I really like the rear bath room with cassette toilet arrangement in the Rize. Pro-tip. After you disconnect the black hose from the van. Hold the black hose upright and push the accordion ridges of the hose together and the extra liquid will flow down the hose to the sewer connection. Doing this will give you a much dryer hose to store away without dripping everywhere.

Just wanted to add that I use the garnet bluetooth app on the phone when dumping and filling my tanks. That way, I don't have to go back inside the RV to see what the levels are. I never understood why there is a city water connection on a van. It’s not like a towable, where you leave it parked for days. I only use to a tank. I have a reugaltor, but never use it. You could consider using a filter, not so much for water quality (I personally don’t drink from the tank), but it will sift out any sediment, rust etc.

    • @Ultramobility
      @Ultramobility  Рік тому +1

      i agree. I’ve never used city water hookup either. and you’re right if you’re just filling the tank you don’t need the pressure regulator although it doesn’t hurt. In the Panoramic’s case you’re not using gravity fill. You are directing water through lines and pipes inside the RV so a pressure regulator might still come in handy. And like you i don’t really drink water from the tank either.

    • @Ultramobility
      @Ultramobility  Рік тому

      the incinerator would need to use propane or fuel from the tank. i don’t think using electricity would be efficient. gmc had an innovative system back in the 70’s on their motor home that used the heat from the exhaust to incinerate waste. that would be a novel ideal to improve upon today. i don’t mind a black and grey water tank. the tanks on the panoramic are pretty large and so i find that I’m not emptying very often.

    • @mgkleym
      @mgkleym Рік тому

      The available electric incinerating toilets are 240 volt and use multiple kwh per "flush" propane would be workable but your still talking 4 grand minimum for the toilet and from what I have heard they aren't always odorless.
