That was a fun review. I loved this movie as a kid.
I love the amount of research and information in these videos. Can't wait for the next one.
Thank you, friend! I try!
And yeah thats not the claw from it was metal hands.
Gadget a policeman....He a secret agent, Inspector gadget was a spoof of spy shows like get smart.
By reveiw you mean "Nit picking every scene of the movie and complaining that it's not the 80's cartoon I grew up with"
This movie is SO bad that even Freddy Got Fingered is more tolerable.
Eyes Wide Shut is the best movie of 1999. THIS.. is the worst one.
And Tyrese Gibson was originally going to play Dr. Claw in this movie, but couldn't do it because of scheduling conflicts at the time 😊 😂.
Who would you rather play these characters?
Tom Hanks as Inspector Gadget
James Earl Jones as Dr. Claw
Mary-Kate Olsen as Penny
Linda Fliorentino as Dr. Brenda
J.K Simmons as Chief Quimby
And directed by Harold Ramis
Nice!
I can see what they were going for, they wanted to make an origin story to the series while restarting it with a new twist and in some ways I could really respect that idea. But, let's be fair and 100% truthful. There are Inspector Gadget PORN PARODIES that capture the spirit of the show more accurately!
This is something that could've been salvaged in some form. It really could've. Try to duplicate animation more faithfully, hire a director who's experienced with special effects and slapstick comedy (Terry Gilliam, Harold Ramis, Gore Verbinski), find better jokes, make the story more simpler, expand upon the characters, do some recasting, (Tom Hanks, James Earl Jones, Mary-Kate Olsen and Linda Fliorentino,) rework the script… now that I think about it, just make a different movie. Nothing can be saved, make a different movie!
You can tell a lot of effort went into this and I have a lot of respect for that, but it misses the point of the original show and streams so off course that it's insulting. It often just doesn't come across feeling like an Inspector Gadget movie, but more like a romantic comedy about a cop who loves a scientist. You could cut the hat and coat out, and the connections to the show entirely, and just make it about a dorky police officer who becomes a robot and learns the value of love while also being the hero, and it would be… alright. It's been done before with a robot loving a human like Bicentennial Man the same year but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing and I do think that Disney could bring something to it to make it unique. But when the direction is so confused on who the target audience is supposed to be, how the project's supposed to work and what is and isn't connected to, then it just falls apart very quickly.
On the other hand, you could've made an interesting Inspector Gadget movie that's a prequel to the original show which still could've been canon and connected to the original show. Just make Gadget overly confident and yet a bumbling moron and not a dorky loser, NEVER show Dr. Claw and make him a runaway wanted terrorist, and Penny solving most of the case. I think a secret agent jewel-heist Inspector Gadget movie would've been more interesting because we know that Gadget WAS a secret agent in the show, and there are many movies with this concept that's already proven that it could work like Spy Hard, Austin Powers, or Pink Panther films. What I'm trying to say is that there are many ways that this movie could've been good but it takes a little more than one scene or one moment to change. It definitely feels like a too many cooks' situations where there wasn't enough good direction and thus it comes out… not good. The movie's not good.
All good points. They really did try to make it one slapstick cliché after another. Far as a prequel goes, I know they had one with 'Gadget Boy & Heather,' but I am not sure that is really canon.
This video introduced me to your channel, and I am now hooked! 10/10 review right here!
Now, if it were me, I would:
1.) Have this movie be animated; staying true to the original 2D animation, but also have a noticeable upgrade.
2.) Have Brian Blessed (a.k.a. Clayton from Tarzan) voice Dr. Claw and Don Adams reprise his role of Inspector Gadget.
And 3.) Give the characters more development and have there be humor to keep the viewers' attention while at the same time not dumbing them down.
Thank you so much for watching! And I am a Brian Blessed fan. Also, you have a a nice channel too!
@@AnMaxProductions thanks!
Well informed, and highly entertaining review! We can tell how much you love movies with the time and effort and heart that you put into your videos!
As I get older and older while watching this Inspector Gadget movie, they’re some moments that had badly traumatized me. From the dream sequence at the beginning, to the abundance of unnecessary cartoon sound effects, to the very in your face close up lens angle shots, to the scene where Gadget crunched the Guru’s balls by accident *shudders*.
The movie is overall a groin punching nightmare. It’s on the same level as Son of the Mask.
👍🏿
“PREMARITAL SAAAAAX”
The script was done and rewritten by several different writers such as John Hamburg, Audrey Wells, Micheal McCullers, Gary Ross and Edward Neumeier. Zak Penn, Dana Olsen and Kerry Ehrin were only credited as the writers of the film while the others were uncredited.
2022 the year of morbinspector time!
