I've been living in Central Thailand for 6 years and my Thai wife and I decided it was time for a break. We've been in Da Nang now for a month and another month before we return home. Stupidly I forgot to bring both my UK driving licence and my International Drivers Permit so we are walking to most places. That's ok by me, my main exercise is walking (too old for jogging) but I was a little sad for my wife today. We walked from Son Tra to the vegetarian restaurant 'recommended' by Vagabond Awake as his favourite, down in Au Thuong, only to find it was closed, at 14.30! So after a 10km return walk I'm in the doghouse this evening. Valentine's tomorrow so we'll go to the Thai restaurant, a few minutes stroll away, but I'll locate that 'Loving Vegan' place you were at in this video for later in the week. Loved your video and I'll catch up with your Thailand videos in due course.
Aww I'm so sorry that happened to you! I can imagine that being very frustrating! So many places were closed for about 10 days over Yet which meant things were very limited. I'd recommend having a look at the app Happy Cow, it will tell you all the vegan or vegetarian restaurants in the area. Although If your wife is vegan, I have found that in Vietnam some places think vegan and vegetarian are the same so I have to let them know I can't eat dairy 🙈 Keep an eye out though because it's been requested we make a video for vegan food places in Da Nang so we are currently working on that ☺️
Could you tell more about what were you expecting? I just visited Da Nang and I had the same impression - it was not what I expected. The beach was nice and I loved the street food and everybody was friendly, but the town itself was little bit stressful and not somewhere where I would have extended my stay. Now I am in Luang Prabang, staying next to the river and love it so much more, also the town is great :) Moonmilk was a great shop :)
Interesting that you felt the same! I'm not too sure what I was expecting maybe something a bit more modern and cleaner I suppose. I think its quite different from Thailand and Cambodia and because we didn't have a good start with the bed bugs and the weather it didn't set the best tone. However now we have explored more and found the places we like (you'll see in the next video) I actually really really like it here now! (Thailand still has my heart though :) ) That sounds beautiful! We will have to try it there!
Nice video guys, I want to visit Vietnam one day.
You should! Vietnam is amazing!
