    Little note: around minute 5.45 you talk about Montepulciano as a Sangiovese clone. It is not. It's very confusing for people outside Italy, but Nobile di Montepulciano (wine) it's a base Sangiovese wine made in Tuscany, while Montepulciano (grape) it's a grape variety indigenous of Abruzzo. So they are definitely different wines and grapes. Other than this love your videos and I really missed them! Keep up with this good work you have lots of restaurants in which you can use this format!

      He shouldn't have said this, it deserves a correction in my opinion as the styles are very different and this can be potentially misleading. Still a great video though I love how he highlights different producers and special cuvees all the time, I have deep respect for his knowledge.

    Hands down the most informed wine series on youtube and its not even close-the algorithm is just lagging! Keep it up Troy! There are so many YT wine channels where the host cant even pronounce the label, and youre clearly either an advanced or master somm. Great work man!

    You were missed Troy! Good to see your content as always.
    If I may ask you to review some wine lists in New Zealand and Australian that would be great. Restaurants like “Sid at The French Cafe” in Auckland or “Attica” in Melbourne. It would be very cool to see what you think!
    Keep posting! We love you!

    Will you please do Geranium in Copenhagen?! It is currently the number 1 restaurant in the world and has a wine list PDF that is 232 pages long. The wines they have assembled are unbelievable and have so many rare gems that it is hard to digest. I will be dining here in February and would absolutely LOVE to watch a video detailing your impressions before I have to make my selections. Thank you.

    I love these videos. As a companion could you do an explainer for how you approach wine lists in reality? You seem to really value bottle age. As someone who is relatively new to learning more about wine - with a non unlimited budget - I'd love to hear about best ways to have great wine experiences at restaurants with solid lists. Obviously it is subjective, but should the focus be on bottle age, producer, terroir, vintage, etc? Or the best combination of all of those?

  • @itsmederek1
    @itsmederek1 Рік тому

    Do you really think the Dolcetto would still have freshness from that vintage? It is a low-acid variety and probably got second hand treatment compared to any other cuvees from the producer no?

    • @TroysTastingRoom
      @TroysTastingRoom  Рік тому +1

      The reality is that no, the wine has probably not continued to develop beyond its initial years. The story of the producer, unique nature of the wine, impressive bottle age, and price make it an interesting selection. It’s not a wine I’ve seen on any other lists. At the very least, it would be a fun and engaging experience to try the wine alongside the regional cuisine. Assuming proper storage, it should still be drinkable, but I doubt the wine’s character would match its story.

    Was very underwhelmed with the restaurant itself. Went there over Mother's Day weekend and while the service was excellent the food left much to be desired.
