This video explores the rituals and practices of the Kanyaleng! Kanyaleng are groups of women who boldly express themselves in an entertaining, outwardly expressive way, in an effort to ask God for the greatest gift--a child. Many women come to Kanyaleng if they give birth to a child who passes away, if they're subfertile, or if they're completely infertile. The use of food in their rituals/practices calls attention to women's roles as producers of food and reproducers of children. You will get to hear some of their stories and watch them show their solidarity to womanhood!
