    The reason why they lost wasn’t only because they were simply tired, but because they kept using the same quick over and over to the point where it started to become predictable so that’s how they were able to beat them. Also oikawa isn’t a bad guy he’s just a competitive ass dude. He’s also really good because he brings out the best in everyone so that’s how that one guy (the one who received “everything”) was so good.

    It really isn’t fair to hold someone’s mistakes at ages 14-15 against them forever, this applies to both characters I’ve mentioned. You don’t have to like Oikawa, but at least spare him the same compassion you’ve given to other characters.

      This! One was a constant bully who belittled, tormented, and assaulted Deku for years, even encouraging him to kill himself. The other was an overwhelmed, insecure upperclassmen who was stopped from making a terrible physical mistake and has since only dissed Kageyama with petty, childish, over the top remarks… If one is forgiven and appreciated for his complexities, so should the other one. Especially when both characters are renown for working themselves to death to BE the BEST. Anything less makes her and the others seem hypocritical, which I’m sure they aren’t.

      I don’t make excuses for people because I’ve seen groups that pick up different points a lot better, but the Normies have always had a habit of talking through a lot of important scenes and being relatively oblivious. I don’t know that explaining everything will even change how they experience it (Oikawa in particular), but I’m sure the same discussions will be had in the comments later on when events or plays come back up, or when characters make continued appearances. A humble request: Dustin (the editor) or mods, can you please clarify for everyone that Oikawa never physically "beat" Kageyama or bullied him outside of that one incident (and no, petty disses and over the top nicknames is not a form of bullying, or else half of Karasuno bully each other). There were a lot of relevant factors that led to Oikawa snapping and attempting to strike Kageyama (and even he didn't realize he was doing it until Iwa stopped him) and he clearly looked shocked at his own actions. It's not right, no, but they are teenagers; I've picked fights for less when I was fourteen. Again, they are taking that one incident and somehow making it into a daily struggle of torture for Kageyama. It was not.
    Also, Oikawa was never a selfish player after Iwa talked to him about having a team with 6 strong being better. He's the opposite of selfish. He trusts his team and caters to their strengths. Kageyama, on the other hand, was a selfish player. This is acknowledged by MULTIPLE people, even on his current team early on in the series. He has grown out of that mindset thanks to Hinata and the rest of Karasuno, which Oikawa was acknowledging in this episode. This is a good thing! Kageyama is an amazing character because of this substational growth. Don't erase his past just because you like him, and then push his flaws onto Oikawa (who already has his own flaws).
    Please, the Normies have so much head canon at this point, I feel someone needs to gently and patiently set them straight or it will snowball into the rest of the series and affect how they view other characters.

    You guys are under the impression that Oikawa beat Tobio, and that's not true!! Actually, Hinata, Daichi, and even Suga have hit Kageyama far more than Oikawa has.
    Kageyama's reason for his trust issues stem from his OWN upbringing, and his failure as a setter to adjust to others. We see it on-court all the time, where the setter says "my spiker just couldn't hit properly", and they never take the blame; similar to Kageyama's mentality of Kita 1st.

    Oikawa and his team deserved the win. Being tired is no excuse for a team, both of them have been on the court for same time and have put the same effort to connect the ball. • @seanpule266
      @seanpule266 2 роки тому

      It stems from Oikawa, as Oikawa bore the same personality before being lectured by Iwaizumi. Not to mention constant conditioning from how Oikawa acts in order for Kageyama to learn that way.
      He didn't get trust issues from his final match at Kitagawa Daichi... if it wasn't already evident, he has had trust issues long before. Before even their very first match against Hinata's pathetic team in the tournament, Kageyama displayed immense distrust in his hitters to convert sets into kills through the egotistical way that he plays the game, forcing hitters to adjust to a playstyle they could not physically adapt to.
      This has likely occurred in the previous season as well, since Kageyama had been the official setter for the team since his 2nd year after Oikawa left.

    They need to understand the true beauty of Haikyuu, that every team gets some spotlight and development, with different personalities, play styles, but with the same drive to win. Not that Karasuno can be their favorite, but other teams exist.
    Being tired is a big factor of EVERY sport. If you're lagging behind the other team, that's your fault for not training hard enough, or bad energy conservation, etc. In this case, both teams were tired in the end, except for Kunimi ig, but that doesn't change the fact that everyone else was reaching their limit.
    Oikawa is completely misunderstood. In middle school, he worked hard to become a good setter since he isn't and wasn't a genius. That was not enough to defeat Ushiwaka, nor was it enough to calm his panic from the upcoming Kageyama. Not one, but two players threatened to greatly surpass him with their talent, causing him to have the natural reaction of being scared and losing his mind a bit, leading to the almost hit of Kageyama. Kageyama also became a dictator on his own accord, not due to trust issues with Oikawa. Oikawa, with his wacky persona, can bring out the maximum power of any team he's on, but Kageyama still has the remnants of his old habits tied to him, so when pressured he reverted back to speeding up his tosses, and putting much pressure on himself.
    A lot of this is what other people said, and there's no way I understood all this on my first go, but other reactors seemed to gather more than this. First reaction blues I suppose.

  • @katara2021
    @katara2021 3 роки тому +82

    I'm reposting this since it seems to be relevant for every video now apparently.
    Does Marketa have any idea, compared to this one mistake Oikawa almost made how borderline abusive Kageyama her "baby" was to his team mates? Even in Karasuno, its a stroke of luck that Hinata just brushes off his insults and doesn't take them to heart but imagine if Hinata had anxieties or was sensitive to it. All these fun jokes of Kageyama swearing at him won't seem so fun anymore.
    I like Kageyama but wow does the fandom love to excuse his shitty behavior or minimize it. Do you know how tyrannical a genius player has to be before his team throws away their chance at winning the tournament?
    Also I've always thought given the distance between him and kageyama in that scene and how Oikawa was crouching that he was going to hit the volleyball in Kageyama's hand not like his face.
    Also while it might be good to help your team mate learn a new skill nobody is owed their upperclassmen's time.

      Part of the reason that Hinata is unbothered is that he has insanely high emotional IQ, which is something I hadn't realized until I was closer to finishing the manga. He doesn't take any of Kageyama's insults to heart, and is only insulted when Kageyama doesn't trust him with the ball. I probably should have realized this about Hinata after how he ropes in Yachi in the next season, but yeah, Kageyama is definitely more of a bully than Oikawa 😂

Also it wasn't for "3 years" so seriously stop being over dramatic. He was a baby in year 1 it wasn't until hes second year when Oikawa left that he start having an ego because he realized how good he was. Nor have we been given ANY reason in the show or manga to believe that he was CONSTANTLY being mad 24/7 all day everyday. Funny how you tend to hate Oikawa when he actually is a way better human being than what Kageyama has been up until now, at least for the moment… First HE NERVER BULLIED KAGEYAMA like Marketa seems to believe, and on top of that He’s pretty cool with literally everybody except for Kageyama and Ushiwaka (for the reasons we know…) And even for that: He would call Ushiwaka « Chan » to get on his nerves (which poorly works) and refuse to help Kageyama when He would ask for advise… That’s all… (yes He snapped ONCE and tried to hit Kageyama out of despair, and I guess anyone who’s been a teen already can understand how young people can sometimes be unstable when emotions are too hard to handle) Oh and He’s conscious of his own skills and potential and is still able to recognize the strength of those above him… While in the other hand, Kageyama was said several times to be a SELFISH player before coming to Karasuno, one that would mistreat his teammates (and it actually looks way more like bullying than what Oikawa ever did to Kageyama), badmouth them and be super arrogant…
    So yeah, you guys failed to get a lot of Oikawa’s personality… And it wouldn’t be a big deal if you didn’t spend so much time badmouthing him for nothing…

    "they only lost bc they were tired" yeah, having enough stamina to play a full game is part of being an athlete. that's why they train it. not having enough stamina and not being able to push through exhaustion tends to make you play worse. and, believe it or not, karasuno aren't the only ones who are tired! the other side had to play the full game too! if karasuno can't hold out, that's on them. and, being tired wasn't the only reason (or even a major reason) why they lost. they lost because they were predictable and relied too much on their "secret weapon." saying they lost because they were tired is an excuse, and a bad one at that.

    To commenters: you guys are letting your own biases get in the way of enabling the reactors to OWN their experience and journey with the show. Provide better context all you want, but you can’t “correct” an opinion.
    This may be hard for some of you to hear, but you don’t need to get pissed at every misconception, bias, and otherwise differing opinion than yours.
    The reason it’s difficult for a lot of the group to see the deeper aspects of Oikawa’s character is because (1) they have much limited information compared to all of you, (2) this is literally their IMMEDIATE reason. Most of you didn’t get to the point where you realized you actually liked Oikawa until you took a step back and processed his scenes and characterization, and (3) they are BIASED because they love Karasuno intensely and they are protective of them.
    Think of it less like they’re “hating” on Oikawa and more like they’re being fiercely loving toward Kageyama and Karasuno as a whole. Oikawa’s competitive spirit and snarkiness can definitely put someone who loves Karasuno on the defensive side.
    And Oikawa is MY favorite character. At the end of the day, it’s a cartoon. Chill.

    Stop watching things if you aren't going to pay attention "he literally beat his ass" excuse me? he LITERALLY didn't. Oikawa was a mentor of Kageyama in middle school and when he saw this younger player getting better and catching up to him already when he is already under pressure to beat another genius Ushiwaka despite all his hard work he had ONE (1) moment of weakness and stress where he lashed out and ATTEMPTED to hit him but was stopped and was shocked by his own behavior. It was ONE event. There was never any beatings ever. period. beatings HAVE. NOT. HAPPENED. Also Kageyama's trust issues stem from him being a demanding egocentrist and alienating his middle school team, not because Oikawa lashed out literally once in middle school.

    I think people need to chill with the comments, through the first season I was super imparcial and hated everyone that played against karasuno (Oikawa specially) but the anime have a great character development through the rest of the seasons and we could get to know better the players from the other teams. Just relax people and be patient.

      Its not even that . They dont have to like certain characters . However they are going off with their own head canon . They keep insisting that Oikawa is a selfish player when the show has stated multiple times already that he is the most selfless player there is . Why Do some of them keep insisting that Oikawa is a bully and he was the reason kageyama was a horrible team player in the beginning ?

    • @alejandradiazarias6922

      @@jman593 Even though I don't think Oikawa is THE responsible for Kageyama's behavior, I do think he contributed to the development of that behavior, kageyama admired Oikawa and he always denied him the possibility of learn from him, so that feed that feeling of selfishness that kageyama developed, everything was his responsibility and he could not trust in the rest. I do agree with you that the anime has already shown that Oikawa isn't a selfish player, arrogant yes, extremely, but he always took every opportunity he had to make his team shine.

    Dont wanna be that guy, but them talking over some of the most important moments of the episode is....idk if disrespectful is a good word for it.
    Yeah the show is about volleyball but it's very poetic in the sense that everyone has their own dreams with obstacles to overcome, its about personal growth and mindset.
    They are very interested in the action which is great to see.
    But it seems any kind of the metaphor, imagary, and meanings behind important character developing scenes just *whoosh* right over them.
    Again, it could be the fact that most of us watch Haikyuu alone and is able to see and understand the meanings behind it while watching in a group is easier to just get hyped about the action.
    I just want to say that Haikyuu isnt an animated game of Monday Night Football (just for reference)... You are witnessing a piece of literature written by one of the best writer arguably in Japanese manga. (It just happens to be about volleyball)
    Yes, get hyped with the action, we all do. But please understand that's only half of the show, I want you all to enjoy the show to its fullest.

      This… is surprisingly accurate. Not to blame the a Normies, as it’s honestly really hard to get out of the hype moments and into the sublime and slower beats when there’s a couch full of people, but yeah, Haikyuu is definitely a very human story. One that happens to be about volleyball and is written very well. People all too often mistake “complex” for “good” these days, and while Haikyuu isn’t really the former, it is absolutely the latter.

    I find it really hard to say this because I really like all of you and Rob is just plain annoying especially when watching haikyuu but even he understood Oikawa's character more than some of you did lmao
    Guys you need to understand that having biases doesn't really work on Haikyuu since it's focused towards growth, and not of a single team but everyone. There's plenty of people who are competitive and are way better than the guys of Karasuno, that doesn't mean they are bad people. Oikawa at this point was clearly better than them, and not in a physical way but also a mental and intellectual play.
    I love my boys of Karasuno and I always want them to win but it's impossible for me to not like the rest. It's okay not to like a character, there's people who don't like Oikawa for various reasons but his personality in game or his talent is often not one of them. You can't just say he didn't deserve to win, because he clearly did.

    Outside of that one incident where Oikawa was having a breakdown and moved to hit Kageyama, he never "bullied" him. Where is this misunderstanding coming from? Some of the folks on the couch have major blinders when it comes to Kageyama and they need to rewatch the beginning since they've forgotten how terrible he was at the start. There is a REASON he was called The King/Dictator. He was a terrible teammate and only focused on winning, without caring about others. Oikawa on the other hand actually cares about his team and wants to bring out the best. Yes Kageyama has major growth, but ya'll are majorly biased when it comes to him and completely disregard how he treated others. Kageyama was the bully you believe Oikawa to be.

    • @swanpride
      @swanpride 3 роки тому +1

      Well, and why was Kagayama turning out that way? Because he didn't connect with the team from the get go, and part of the reason why was Oikawa's attitude. Yeah, he never deliberately bullied Kageyama, but he did exclude him, and considering how socially awkward Kageyama is....

    • @kdl17

      @@swanpride Oikawa was only there for one year of Kageyama's middle school career and he mostly ignored him while Kageyama followed him around demanding to be taught. We know why Kageyama became the tyrant king and it has nothing to do with Oikawa, it happened after. Kageyama mostly didn't even register that Oikawa didn't like him, he barely had a reaction to him almost slapping him away and he was still following him around and handing him tissues afterward
