Awsat, yeah, adorable until you're walking through the desert barefoot (like a complete fucking idiot!) and step right next to one ;) spiders don't worry me at all, though, the more you learn about them the more you realize they want nothing to do with people. Snakes are a lot more dangerous than spiders are, but even they are not something you need to worry much about. People say water moccasins are super incredibly aggressive (you wouldn't even believe how many people here in Texas think that! I've yet to find one random person who doesn't!) but there's a video on here that's like half an hour long of a guy who went out looking for WMs and TRIED REALLY HARD to get them to chase and bite him but, without exception, they all wanted to just get away. It took him putting the toe of his boot on one's mouth and pressing gently down before it would bite and it was just a dry bite!

      @KurtisC93 8 років тому

The cobalt blue tarantula is indigenous to the Indian subcontinent, if I'm not mistaken. It's also very aggressive - not the sort of spider you handle with your bare hands.

That's new to me - I heard Tarantulas are very "shy"...or reclusive if you prefer...
...one question, if I may! - is this the reason she's got all those colours on her?
      ...is it to scare predators?...

this is where people screw up on how venoms work. Any type of venom can kill a human even if they say it's not a threat to humans. If that person has an allergic reaction to the venom they are usually dead or damn near it. Best bet if it is venomous avoid it or kill it if need be. No one can test you if you're allergic to a venomous creature. If an American Yellow jacket can kill from a few stings then these guys up here sure can.

Lenny The Hopeless Because most spiders aren't aggressive. The vast majority of them are very passive and will only bite when provoked or hurt. There's only a few on this list that I wouldn't handle: The Sydney Funnel Web & The Brazilian Wanderer... because they can be VERY aggressive, even without much provocation.

I'm two spiders into this video, and already I know I'm going to be correcting the entire thing. Sit back, get comfy everyone. It's going to be an educational day.
    10. The Yellow Sac Spider - Not as venomous as you think. I know from experience. I got bitten by one. Not only did I live, but it really did not hurt super badly. As a matter of fact, I didn't even notice it for about a day until it started itching like a m*f*er.
    9. Fringed Ornamental - Does not kill people or put them into a coma. And you'd do well to call it's "fangs" what they actually are, chelicerae. A fang is a projection in a mammal or reptile made of bone.
    8. "Chinese Bird Spider" - what looks to me like T. Blondi, a member of the baboon spider group, NOT venomous. It can harm you worse with the utricating hairs it kicks off its backside when it feels threatened than it can with a bite. Still, I wouldn't handle one, especially a wild one.
    7. I will give you this one.
    6. Loxoceles Reclusa or "Brown Recluse" - Brown recluse venom is GREATLY exaggerated in its potency and some people who have studied spiders argue that certain species of fiddleback have in fact evolved to have no venom toxicity at all. As far as it being deadly, the name "Recluse' is in its very definition used to illustrate the fact that this spider prefers a life of solitude, and will generally avoid humans rather than strike them. When you say "4% of bites result in death" you need to consider and take into account that many of these deaths are in Chile (a third world country) where they are unequipped to deal with anaphylaxis.
    5. Redback - Again, not lethal. This spider can paralyze you temporarily after twelve minutes if not treated, and will cause fever and cold sweats.
    4. Black Widow - Exact same symptoms, exact same toxicity.
    3. You get this one. Congrats.
    2. Six Eyed Sand Spider - I will confess, I don't know much about this one so I won't comment on it. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you got it.
    1. This one is also right. You may also be interested to know it can live under water for up to three hours and has CHELICERAE that can pierce a human toenail.

Taylor, in most cases, the spiders featured in the video are not aggressive. Spiders are usually pretty docile and safe to handle, though nearly all species from Asiatic nations and Australia should not ever be considered safe to handle. For example, the Black Widow(Latrodectus Mactans) is a relatively docile spider that typically bites in one of only two circumstances. Widows don't particularly like people, so they try to find areas where we are not, such as a closet space that gets very little traffic, wood piles, sheds, and in parts of garages. Should the female have an egg sac, she will aggressively defend it. Otherwise, she bites in cases where she is disturbed by a hand that reaches in more or less blindly and causes her to feel threatened. There is no known incident of a male Widow biting humans.

    8. Chinese Bird Spider ?? This is the South-American Goliath (Theraphosa blondi). You even show it throwing urticating hairs; only American species have this ability. It has amongst the least potent venom of all birdspiders, and there is no record at all of an infant dying because of it's bite. In fact, no one in the history of this planet has ever died because of a Tarantula bite. In extra fact, this whole video is just to scare people with wrong or exagerreted information, with an easy subject as "venomous spiders" to get views. Well, you got mine, but also my downwards pointed thumb. My advice: try to understand and respect nature, instead of rejecting it.

The Redback Spiders' anti-venom is rarely used, as it causes just as many issues as the venom itself. A friend at work got bitten about a month ago (indoors, somehow it must have dropped down from some crates or the ceiling) and she said it was very sore, but after they went to the ER, the docs said it wasn't worth giving the anti-venom because of all the complications.

Here's some things you might look into. The Brazillian Wandering Spider is considered the most deadly by Guiness due to the amount of mice per bite it can kill. However the Sydney funnel Web has killed more people at a higher percentage. It is more deadly to primates/humans . Then there's the Northern Tree Dwelling Funnel Wb, that can be twice the size of it's Sydney cousin, with much larger fangs and although it's venom is not quite as toxic, due the fact it administers up to twice as much per bite than the Sydney Funnel Web, it is considered even more deadly!. So as far as Humans are concerned the Funnel Webs top the list, with the BWS coming in 3rd, maybe even 4th to the 6 eyed sand spider which has no anti venom. Also I'm pretty sure Redbacks are far more venemous than Black Widows......Perhaps an updated video with the correct information would be good ;)
