Yes, it is political but it's always been from the beginning. The young woman did her best but, as they say, quite a bit of the passion was "lost in the translation" to English. The French did come back but instead of fighting, the leaders in power came to an indemnity agreement with them. Christophe had already died and the country was reunified. Haiti had to pay France billions for years.
