Yeah. Using the dishwasher to clean (or sometimes even repair) stuff is one of the best tricks available. Used my dishwasher (that I got for free, because it was broken after an repair attempt) to clean a Delonghi automatic espresso machine, a Bosch dryer, Miele and Bosch washing machines, and several other dishwashers. Usually looks really good afterwards... - Dish washers rule!

I have a Miele W 149 top loader. Just replaced the bearings for the first time. A lot of work but my DIY rating is a little bit higher now :) I think it was bought new in 2002 so lasted for many years. Looks like the motor outlasts the drum.
Ah, never mind. I think I figured it out. They 'hold' the post that is inserted from the rear of the machine that hold the drum from moving during shipping. They aren't needed after installation. I should never have questioned Miele's German build quality! Better than a BMW!
Hello, I don't know if you will respond to this but I'm doing a bearing change on a miele W 4144 and the only thing I can't find is someone actually put the spider back on the drum shaft, I was just wondering if there was a special technique for doing it please? Any info would be greatly appreciated thank you 😊👍😊
Great job! But You did´nt change the ring (laufring) on the axis, right? I mean the counterpart of the radial shaft seal (time: 4:04). This ring is mostly worn out and will damage the new seal within a short time. In the original repair kit of Miele there is one included. It´s not easy to get the ring off, mostly You have to crush em - and try to keep the axle undamaged.
Hi - 2 questions - 1. what did you use to clean the stainless steel drum? Any special product? 2. at 4:32, just to the left of the yellow bucket you will see a bracket (I think it is made of hard brown plastic). What is this part for? I found at piece loose in the cabinet. Also das Waschmittelfach war bei dieser Maschine schon so sauber. Wenn ich aber eine Maschine mit schmutzigem Waschmittelfach bekomme, dann kommt das erstmal innen Spüler. Danach weiche ich das über Nacht ein in Salzsäure. Dann ist fast alles wieder sauber.

cosmo I usually first tighten a few bolts on the side of the drum. Then I tighten the ‘flywheel’ and then the rest of the bolts. Good luck! :)
