You should not have to mess around with delicate electronics just to change a sat nav battery. There should be a cover that you simply unclip and replace the battery. I am furious with the manufacturers.
Why? Surely you just replace it with the TomTom one that already has the lead attached?! The nokia one is an 860mAh. TomTom replacement is 1100mAh. Were the TomTom ones not available when the video was made?
You should lead your video in with tech skills required so people don't waste their time discovering you have tools that cost a fortune to make that mod.
@@robbworth6523 Or you could just buy the replacement battery which are still commonly available. Cutting into an NiMH battery cover is a fire hazard and required the "tools" of his special knowledge, and he also didn't show how he attached the nickle strip (I'm sure it's just touching- which is a hazard in itself for a portable device). Forgot to mention the Kapton tape is not expensive, but not cheap either. Just by the battery. Way to reply to a comment that's a year old... But since you did-

Totally Agree with you Mr. Martin Roberts.... Tom Tom and other Manufacturers of Satnavs should make it MUCH EASIER to replace batteries in Satnavs.

Here in Aus. replacement battery with BMS is $2 more than Nokia, worthwhile? Does taping BMS contacts work reliably as was spot welded?
Would that also work in Tomtom Start 52?
