Prayers for Sarah and her family members. I moved to my 20 acre place in 2013. I finally bought a new John Deere tractor in 2015 with a loader and bushhog. Since then I've added a rototiller, box blade, rock rake, pallet forks, stump bucket and a mower deck. After having them I don't know how I got by without it all! I'm always finding new uses for these implements. I first bought a CubCadet riding mower and found it as worthless as the Cub Cadet warranty! That's one reason I got the tractor. Surprised at how much the pallet forks have saved me labor.
Kevin you and Sarah both never cease to amaze me 💚 thank you for sharing your sometimes hard learned lessons and wisdom with us there are a true blessing. Each item is so carefully considered. Thank you. I am a volunteer manager at our community center. The area I volunteer in is workshops in practical home maintenance skills and creating food in a small backyard. We have tools for training and use. Thuis coming year we will be harvesting roof rainwater and grading different parts of our site, to rehabilitate barren soil often covered in 40 year old asphalt. Increase fertility and hydrate deeply the soil. All will be structured into workshops with knowledge that can be used in the neighborhood.
Ps our animals are fish in aquaponics, bees and 10 chickens. Chickens mostly for grabbing out invasive rhinoceros beetles in our mukch and compost. It's too hot for expendable egg production.
Myrtle has the cutest face. She almost looks like a toy!. The silkies r adorable. The blue/lilac has muttinchops!. Yes all those skill r needed. I raised cats & dogs & u can save a ton giving ur own shots. 1 shot I can save $40! So farm vet skills came easy. I wethered my own goats with bands, no reason to "cut" & worry about possible infection. Reading books, fliers, now go on line! And check sales & auction for critters & farm equipment. Trades like u did for ur excess produce is like u got it like the ppl paid u to take it!
I agree with everything you’ve said 100%. We moved 4.5 years ago from a Tucson HOA to 10 rural acres in the mountains. We’re turning it into a productive farm in fast motion. We are learning all the skills you discussed and such. UA-cam is our friend! Thanks for bringing us along Kevin! (Btw, we’re old folks so there’s that as well. Haha!)

FYI You may want to consider mice proofing the foundation before they put the house on. Fill in all of the cracks and crevices with spray foam. It's worth the time. Will definitely keep Sarah and her family in my prayers.
