    I have traveled to many countries and have come across numerous travel and immigration agencies, and yours is without a doubt one of the best I've stumbled upon. I love the transparency and straightforward information. Amazing!

    It says in this video that the visa is not renewable. Does that mean you can only get the visa one time ever? Or could you theoretically spend 6 months there, go back to your home country for 6 months while reapplying and return in the next calendar year?

      Great question! Since the visa is still so new, the government has not announced anything about re-applying for the visa just yet.

    It's April now. Is the digital nomad visa available now?

      I'm starting to wonder if it's just a stupid rumor. I see absolutely no info about a "nomad visa" from the Japanese authorities anywhere.... Fake news scam?

      Yes, the visa is now available :)

    Great to see they are offering something like this however only 6 months, and not renewable doesn't leave much room for people who want to spend a significant amount of time in the country. 6 months limits options for bank accounts, accommodation and other amenities.. Still sparked my interest though

      It's definitely one of the shortest digital nomad visas available, but a good opportunity still, we agree!

    I find it's more a missed opportunity than anything else. Income requirement is high, an it's only good for 6 months...or just 90 days more than a tourist visa (without all the paperwork headache). For me, not worth the hassle of application fees and such for just 90 more days.

    • @nomadsembassy
      @nomadsembassy  7 місяців тому

      Yes, the income requirement is higher than most digital nomad visas, especially those in Europe. These laws change all the time so we hope that maybe the government will adjust the requirements to attract more applicants in the future 🙏

      @@nomadsembassy I don't mind the higher income requirement as much. If Japan wants a higher-earning digital nomad that's fine. For me it's only getting 90 extra days. Seems like a lot of extra work just to get 3 more months. Kind of wish it was more like South Korea. Similar financial threshold, but having at least a year makes the application more worth your time.

      Three months is really too short unless you're just backpacking around. It takes the first three months to get familiar with local places, get the hang of the language (if you've been studying beforehand), and start to break out of the expat circle. The next three months let you build on that - getting closer to fluency, figuring out how to earn money abroad, and expanding your circle of local friends/acquaintances.
      Also, for a decently paid telework position, the ability to legally work is necessary. Generally, you have a company computer, semi-confidential information, etc. If the computer gets lost or stolen, or even worse, immigration confiscates it, that's going to be a big problem if you're not able to legally work there.

      @@timhale6187 Sure, but the amount of money, time, and energy it takes to apply for a nomad visa just to get 90 more days...in my opinion is not worth it. Especially when compared to other visas in the area. With extensions you can stay in South Korea for several years.
      Japan rushed this visa...and realistically capped it at 6 months so they wouldn't have to figure out tax situations.

      @@The_Son_Of_Grey It might not be that hard to get. Drop off or mail pay stubs to the consulate along with a passport and whatever fee they're charging (likely not that much). Wait around 2 weeks or so, and pick up a 180 day multiple entry visa.
      As far as I can tell they haven't launched the new visa program yet, so it's hard to tell exactly what they will want.
