  • At least six people were killed & 9 people were sent to hospital with injuries after a stabbing attack at a shopping mall in Sydney, Australia, on Saturday.
Police shot the male suspect after he went on a mass stabbing rampage armed with a knife at a shopping mall in Bondi Junction, Sydney.
I thought after Australia banned all semi-auto guns after the Mass Shooting they had in 1996, things like this wouldn't happen.
Yeah, I know this wasn't a mass shooting, but he killed people in mass, so does it really make a difference what he used?
Haven't we in the 2a community been saying for decades that gun control laws don't work because evil will just find other ways to try and kill people while stripping the law-abiding people of their self-defense tool?

Because in Australia citizens are brainwashed to think guns are bad and that the guns cause damage. So any gunshots obviously means it’s bad to them. In instances like this I keep in mind the Reality Tv Rule: If something seems off, even a little, assume it’s possibly been edited to fit a narrative. In this instance, perhaps she said more but it wasn’t shown in this video or in the news segment itself. It seems odd to me that that’s ALL she would be crying about. So I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and keep in mind that clip of her very easily could’ve just been edited to spin a narrative.

No smart countries only ban the use of tools solely designed to kill. ( and then an outright ban is very rare, unlike what most ignorant Americans think )
And after that, weapons / tools that are being carried for no other reason than to harm another person. Not just knives , but brass knuckles, quite a a few marital arts weapons, slungshot ( SAP / knot on rope ) , the list is a long one etc..
People carry around dangerous items all the time as you can can kill almost anyone with anything if that is your intent. For logical people it is all about time, location and / or intent. Eg... a tire iron while changing your tire is fine, but walk into a jewelry shop carrying one and see what reaction you get.
Your car can be legally defined as a weapon if you use it as such.
And lets not forget, if you have been trained and you kill someone who is untrained, your training and YOU can be considered a weapon.
Complicated stuff I know, but trust me, people way smarter than you after centuries of experience of picking up dead people have figured most of it out for you.

I still support gun bans. You don't need a gun to defend against a knife. You can look at another knife stabbing we had shortly after the Bondi one where a preacher was stabbed. The attacker was quickly dogpiled and the preacher didn't even die. This is how most knife attacks end up in Australia. Nobody dead.
The only reason this Bondi one is blowing up is a) people died, b) there is video of it. The news wouldn't really give 2 shits if there wasn't video. But since there is video, they farm those clicks and views. But knife attacks are very common in Australia. What isn't common is people dying because most knife attacks are successfully defended, or intervened without the use of dedicated weapons.

Stopping an attack while unarmed rarely works when the attacker gets to choose their victim and the time of attack. This is why it doesn't tend to matter if the attacker has a gun. @@mjay6245 I'm not surprised since the US media never reports this. They're only interested in shootings. One other thing they do: if anyone who is NOT a member of law enforcement or the gubm't stops a mass killing by shooting the culprit, the media SWEEP it under the rug as quickly as they can. They also threaten to fire anyone who dares to talk about it. In Oklahoma in the 1990s, a guy walked into a cafeteria and tried to shoot the place up. A concealed carry holder got up and shot him dead. The media?
      Stone
      Cold
      Silence
You can't even find a newspaper article about it anywhere. The media have been doing this propaganda for over 40 years and it'll never stop until we start fighting back.
