I’ve got the st170 rack on my van and you could use the 170 arms with the hubs press in the connect five stud so you can have 300mm mondeo discs with the 170 calliper carrier,,callipers are the same,,

Your mate has made light work of putting that engine In 👍🏽 ignition adventures just fitted a big Chinese turbo on Saturday. Its flying on wastegate pressure I think it's the same one u got. Check it out ✌🏽

Looking forward to seeing your tig welding... I bought an AC/DC tig welder last June, I built a big workshop in the back garden especially for welding in, a huge tig table... And the tig welder hasn't even come out of the box yet 🙈🙄😖

Noticed the inlet manifold looks cut, wonder if this engine was on itb’s at some point or is that a little giveaway on what your doing for an inlet?
@@davidsayers1629 these engines just keep on giving! If you don’t want to turbo you could bolt some throttle bodies straight up to that manifold with a bit of Persuasion 👍

I'm about to do this conversion on my van. When you removed the AC pump, what belt did you fit? Is it possible to fit the connect one or will a new belt be needed.
No didn’t use connect gearbox in the end as wanted the starter at rear also with connect box different bell housing so you need to space them 10mm or clutch won’t release

If it was run off cambelt I would have but as engine is tried and tested we are trying to keep this a budget build everything adds up if needs one in future only a 10min job 👍
Not really the engine will take Upto 300hp some say. I know of quite a few people running unopened engines for a couple years around 270/280 mark you will get people saying ticking time bomb etc but if a few hundred quid engine lasts a couple years that’s money well spent in my eyes. If you want to run big power then build it properly a decomp plate is just a bodge in my eyes may aswell run without
@@davidsayers1629 Engine block and crank is pretty strong as they are the same Zetec engine as the Focus RS (minus a turbo return obviously). The issue on the ST170 when going forced induction is the pistons - The ring lands are very weak and don’t like boost (they WILL crack and disintegrate), which is a shame as the heads on these are brilliant and perfect for forced induction - especially if you buy decent management that will run the VCT on the inlet cam. If you’re deciding to replace the rods and pistons for reliability/power then you might as well have started with a boggo 2.0 litre Zetec engine as they’ll take boost all day long with just a set of ARP rod bolts (which is the weak link on the standard Zetec). Decomp plate is a bodge job, absolutely no need for them.
Pistons will be sweet for the power we are going to run it’s just for a laugh like you said if we wanted a proper build would have done the lot from the get go 👍👍👍👍👍

I went the other way with my own ST170-based build and the engine alone has cost me a ridiculous amount, but you can’t back out of a build once you’ve committed to it. If it does go bang you either swap the whole engine with another ST170 one or you stick a boggo Zetec bottom end in there and turn up the boost to compensate for the power loss due to lower compression. Win-win. 👍🏻

St170 inlets are 2 piece inlets they join with silicone pipes 👍
