My 8 year old daughter says this RC is really cool and the paintjob has really cool colors and she can't wait to get one of her own , and I agree with her whole heartedly.
I recently bought another FROG. Going back to my child hood there weren't a lot of rc cars around but then one day the Grasshopper, Hornet, Frog and Hotshot arrived. The FROG was obviously the upgrade above the Hornet. You can set the Frog up for track duties better than a Hornet. Loving your work and channel Ari
Hey Ari, The paint job looks great. The Frog is one of my all time favs. Would love to see you guys do an all Frog race. Love the channel, keep the videos coming. 😃
I would love to do an all Frog race. Hopefully we can get one together soon. Yeah, the frog took a while to grow on me...but I really like the look of it now... I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
You're crazy bro. The Frog, with a MIP diff, is amazing. Low center of gravity, great for jumps, fast, smooth. The Frog is a great daily driver. The body styling is nice too.
I'm considering getting the MIP diff for it. I have it in my Blackfoot... From my experience, the Frog does drive and jump better than my hornet and possibly my vintage Wild One
Hey Keith, thanks for the comment. You got a lot of RC'ing ahead of you lol... I'm sure when you get around to it, it will look awesome. It took a while for the frog to grow on me... but now I'm a fan...
Very cool idea for the color scheme and props to Harry for doing such a great job on the paint work. It turned out fantastic!!! I love the black wheels as well! Very cool!
That was my first RC. Believe it or not I was obsessed with the idea of modifying it to make it suitable for competition alongside the popular AE RC10CE and the Losi JRXs. Of course it came up short and after a while I traded in for an RC10CE. I did love the unorthodox engineering of the Frog though. Always will.
Thanks... Thats pretty cool you think that. Keep an eye out for it in our 3rd race video... not sure when it will be out but when its out you'll see this frog in the race!
@@RCRetro Mate, I'll be one of the first to watch it! Love your race videos and the channel and your little backyard track inspired me to build my own.

Got to say, best looking frog I have ever seen! I had one given to me, an original... everything that could break did with in a battery pack while running easy on the street! Not overly keen on that chassis since then.
That’s the best looking frog I’ve seen great paint job. I have an original frog that I bought for racing at our local club back in the 80s. To be honest was never my favourite rc but it did the job. It’s a little worse for wear now and needs a good resto. Which I hope to get round to some day. Many thanks for sharing best wishes from the uk
Froglodyte, Frogenstein, Frogster, Frogmiester, Frogelicious, Frogtastic, Frogstar, There's got to be more... "It's the Tamiya way" as Matt would say! Fun video!
thorp brand made a ball diff in the mid 80s for it, also as mentioned mip brand. today the rerelease has the gear box upgraded to dogbones beefed up bevel gears in the new kit. roar banned the metal anti roll over metal antenna wire poles because it caused car to stay on wheels, then roar made plastic antenna tube only legal for roar offroad racing. those were the daaaaaaays.
This is an old vid i know but the OP made me remember exactly what my thoughts were about the Frog when my step dad took me to the store to buy our first RC car back in the 80s. What i didn't realize then was that he was actually just buying it for himself but anyways..All i wanted was a Hornet or if i was extremely lucky a Hotshot..in fact i really really wanted that Hotshot, but no my loving pal of a step dad chose a FROG. Well, i thought. I guess I'll just have to learn to love the Frog..boy was i wrong. The frog constantly spat out the axels..bounced around like a giant bullfrog at speed and crashed itself unless you had expert stick control which i did not. The Servo overheated constantly and it ran out of batteries too quickly if you used the Fast gear cog, to add insult to injury it also blew up the gearbox quiet regularly. I hated that car for the small high speed blow ups it constantly had on me..😂 needless to say i now own my own Hornet.
'm glad you now have a Hornet especially after what seems to be a tainted childhood experience with RC LOL.... It's nice to see that after all these years you finally got what you wanted and are still in the hobby. The Frog is not that bad and many people in the hobby actually consider it a step up from the hornet and grasshopper. I love my hornet too.
@@RCRetro thankyou mate 😄 Yes, I still dabble in Tamiya retro cars only. The Re release Frog of today is a much better version than it was back in the 80s. They have upgraded the Axle shafts, given it a ESC, and upgraded some of the gearbox internals to make it a bit more reliable. I began rebuilding my Frog years ago with re re parts but it disappeared during a move, so sadly it never got to actually run again! yours looks great though.
😃Oh man the buggy turned out absolutely epic. I do you think that the polka dots would have looked cool but this turned out beautiful definitely has a good eye for what looks good. Cheers from Northern Ky.

Harry did a great job painting that Frog. This is probably the uggliest buggy from Tamiya and still most of us have one 🤣😂, i will restore mine back to stock and boxart (just waiting for all the parts to arrive).
Hey, dont you think it runs pretty well for such an old hound? I´ve never liked the color scheme as well. As I remember back in the days, the frog for me was always a big, pink thing of a RC car. But at the moment I am looking for a ReRe. Unfortunately they are hardly available here. By the way, the body paintjob is amazing, not everyone´s taste I guess, but really outstanding.
I always like the frog, was never my absolute favorite but always kind of like it actually more than the hornet I always hated the way the hornet had that little bump for the drivers helmet in the roof for some reason it bothered me 😄 just finished a very basic resto on an old frog then I'm going to use as a runner I have a new Re-release kit My wife got me for my birthday that I'm going to do a special build with😉
